Dear All

Believe it or not ADF EMG is well over 6 years old now! Ever since Chris founded it after ODTUG in 2008 we have had a joining survey as a means of understanding what members are looking for from the group, and for sharing with the community what technologies and versions etc people were using. This has served its purpose for quite some time, with Chris aggregating and publishing survey results online and presenting them at the ADF EMG days at Oracle OpenWorld.

Now that the community has grown to over 1400 members, the profiles and interests of the newest members, whilst interesting, may not represent the community as a whole. We also never managed to build some sort automation between the survey providers and Google so adding new members has been manual job for myself and Jean-Marc (and apologies to those whose membership may have taken a week or so to be approved).

Therefore we've decided to remove the joining survey, and are going to run an annual survey of the whole ADF EMG community instead. This will probably in late summer so that we can present results at OpenWorld (as well as online). Hopefully members will spare a few minutes to participate - we think this a more useful service to the community so that, for example, you'll be able to compare your own projects to what everyone else is doing.

Kind Regards

Simon

PS. I have switched the Google group to open access now - posts will still be moderated but if you have any problems please contact us using the group moderators link

Additionally, we will no longer be adding new members to the @adf_emg "members" list. With 163 members, that list had already gotten quite noisy. If you are following the list, you might want to create your own list with these people in the near future, because we will eventually be deleting it.

Rest assured that the @adf_emg twitter will continue - and feel free to DM @adf_emg if you see a post that you feel should we need to retweet.

Best regards
Sten Vestelri

I've just been told that you can't DM @adf_emg if you are not one of the people this account follows. Instead, just post with @adf_emg in the text - we'll notice and retweet if relevant.
