Does running a virus scan fix it?

What other extensions are you running? Chrome: type chrome://extensions into the address bar Opera: Opera menu > Extensions Safari: Tools > Settings > Extensions (I think - I use Windows)

This happens to me too regularly since I was infected with the lp.ilivid virus. Malwarebytes cleaned that up, or so I thought, now I get some binary trading ad site or this adress http://7.rotator.wigetmedia.com/servlet/ajrotator/319235/0/vh?z=wiget&dim=79059&kw=&click= popping up as new tabs every now and then. I am using Mozilla Firefox but it happens on IE and Chrome too.

When was the last time you ran a scan? Also note that AdBlock only works in Chrome, Safari and Opera.

I've ran several scans from over 8 various anti-malware, adware and general antivirus programmes (My main is AVG but I've since installed a number of more niche programmes). But it seems that the cause of this is due to MSN Plus for Skype according to an increasing number of results. I'll completely uninstall MSN Plus for Skype and hope this helps.

Here is the URL that is plaguing me since I promised a relative I'd give Chrome a REAL chance.

I'm an old guy in my 60's and remember when there were only three TV channels. I remember the day my Father brought home the first COLOR TV set in our neighborhood. Thirty people crammed into out living room and OH! and AWED! over seeing BLUE!! watching Flipper. A show about a porpoise.

But I have several sets of letters I'm entitled to use after my name to impress prospective IT employers and good looking girls doing telephone Tech Support. I'm old but not DEAD...

I've run not only the normal list of app's like malwarebytes etc. but a series of others. To no avail, try to open a new tab by clicking on a link and VOILA! this POS PITA pops up. I've never left it open long enough to see WTF it is, but I'd like to find out how to KILL IT. I've promised my young nephew  REALLY run Chrome, playing with a myriad of extensions etc. The Damn Browser won't even play nice with Rocket Dock. I have to minimize it to access Rocket Dock despite ensuring it's settings were to keep it on top. And the included spell checked sucks.

Like I said above, I'm old but not dead. I AM a tad angry...

Help anyone? I bet I'm gonna feel REALLY stupid when I learn the solution.

I think this is a problem of the system and network, and if it is not,
it is a symptom of a potential one.
It is not possible, and especially not nowadays, to rely exclusively
on the adblocker extension of a browser, with the hope they alone can
secure a system.
AdBlocker is somehow helpful in that regard as it blocks some unwanted
"resources" (others are hidden), but its main purpose is to facilitate
navigation and productivity, as well as enjoyment of browsing the web.
You can not expect it to do miracles! And especially, you can't rely
on it.
If you try to pause AdBlock and you see distracting and unwanted
advertising, OK, this is what the software is for. If you should see
all sort of dangerous garbage, which may open the door to even more
malicious garbage (e.g. look up cryptolocker malware) please give a
serious thought to security of your machine and of your network. You
can not rely on AdBlock to do that for you, no more than you can rely
on AdBlock to brew coffee when we wake up.
Although it would be really nice if it did. Please file the coffee
feature request!!! :-D
