I have the above domain, and am trying to send email to a valid
recipient on the end email server, but Postini reports 451 etc.

Users who are listed on the service work fine for this domain, but
users who are not listed are blocked. Other domains that I manage (in
different orgs) are working fine - seems to be just this org.

The service works for mark.____ten@ but fails for dave.watkins@ who is
not listed.

Can someone resolve this please.

Thanks

Brian

Please post the full error message as provided by Postini. If you have
non-account bouncing (NAB) turned on, email sent to unlisted users
will bounce. Check your general settings of the Org and see if NAB is
turned on. I'll assume the user has an active account on the mail
server.

Non-account bouncing is turned off, and yes the users (it is a problem
for all the non-listed users) have active accounts on the system. The
user listed below is an example user.

The actual error message reads as per the subject of this post. The
below is the output from smtpdiag.exe. This happens on all 4 Postini
MX listed servers for the domain, and works for a direct connection to
the end users Exchange server.

OK, back up one step. What Google/Postini service are you using? Are
you using Premier or one of the Security Apps powered by Postini,
Message Security or Discovery?

Second, where are the Postini MX records for reid.co.uk?

reid.co.uk. MX IN 7200 mail5.zoneedit.com. [Preference = 0]
reid.co.uk. MX IN 7200 mail.zoneedit.com. [Preference = 0]

I am using the basic Google filtering service, inbound only $3/user/
year.

The problem is not with reid.co.uk, please read the error message that
I have now posted twice - the problem is with otc.ac.uk.

Error: 451 Can't connect to otc.ac.uk - psmtp

No problem for listed users of the service for this domain, but
unlisted users are blocked. Non account blocking is turned off.

OK, sorry about that, copied the wrong TLD. You are in the wrong
forum, but we'll finish up here anyway. What do you have listed in
Delivery Manager for the mail server?

By the way, your Nameserver info is mismatched from the parent NS.

Parent:
ns1.community.net.uk.
ns0.community.net.uk.

Your NS:
dns02.community.net.uk.
dns01.community.net.uk.

I have the IP address of my customers Exchange server. It is correctly
receiving emails for listed (paid) Postini subscribers and rejecting
those that are not listed. I can connect to the custonmer IP address
(not listed in DNS) and send an email in directly.

Postini is blocking the emails, claiming that the end point server is
not responding when it is. The other MX record that is not Postini's
is a backup mail service and that is listed in delivery manager as the
backup service. This entry will be removed from DNS when Postini has
shown itself to be working.

Just to be sure, NAB is off at the USER level? NAB settings only work
on the user level. If Postini is blocking non-listed users and NAB is
turned OFF, then you have an issue only direct support can handle.

If that is the case, your support options are listed here;

Well, looks like it is an email off to support. I am not sure why with
NAB turned off, the unlisted user addresses are not passing through.
First time I have seen this with Postini in 5+ years.
