View[+]Finder has “Bottom-siders” and they are well over 20-years old. They still serve well in the cushion role, but their performance in the “snappy-looking cockpit” role depends on how much I feel like scrubbing them. As long as the surface film was unbroken, there has been no water retention.

Underway, at sea I found the cushions got underfoot, so they were stored in all but the best of conditions.

I agree with Donal, but have foam cushions (softer on the butt) covered by Sunbrella. Looks and feels better, in my opinion, but gets waterlogged in the rain and has to be drained/dried.

Well, I agree with Bill!

Covers are the way to go. Foam technology has advanced since my cushions were new and there are closed-cell foams that are waterproof, comfortable and inexpensive. There are cover materials that dry more quickly as well.

I have a set of gray Bottomsiders for the passport 40 cockpit which I’m willing to sell for a good price.  They are in great condition and hardly used.  We just don’t use them much in the PNW.

If anyone is interested, let me know and I will send along some pictures.

Best,

Marty
