Hi PHnw-ers,

A vacancy on Washington State's Building Code Council recently opened up – it's a key role, given the progress we need to see in code and building energy performance. Let's make sure we get a progressive, high performance building voice on the Council!

PHnw's own Albert Rooks has answered the call and volunteered to fill the vacancy, recently submitting his formal application with the State. Now Governor Inslee needs to make his selection.

Please take a moment and share your recommendation of Albert's candidacy.

It's easy. 

1. Just visit:

http://www.governor.wa.gov/boards-commissions/board-and-commissions/profile/Building%20Code%20Council

2. Click the green "Recommend an applicant" button. 

3. Select "Building Code Council" from the pull down menu. (And "Support" from the second pull down.) 

4. Write your recommendation of Albert, given his role as a supplier of materials and components to high performance builders and designers through the State of Washington (and beyond). If there's anyone who knows practical ways to make highly energy efficient, healthy, comfortable buildings, it's Albert, right? We need him on the Council!

5. The form will ask you to add Albert's contact info. It's here:

I have worked for Albert as both a blogger for his sustainable building supply business, Small Planet Supply, and as a window estimator. I have also spent time with him on the board of Passive House Northwest where our goal was to promote Passive House construction, the most energy efficient building method available. He has worked hard at learning what the best practices are for sustainable building and promoting those practices to contractors and homeowners alike.

He joined the Passive House community near the beginning of its impact in Washington State.  He quickly spread his time and talents to the National and International Passive House communities.  He is a member of National Passive House groups which foster the growth of Passive House concepts, and internationally, by opening a branch office of his sustainable building supply business in Canada, and becoming involved with the International Passive House community, and particularly key Passive House individuals from Germany and Ireland.
