Good afternoon,
Did I miss something or do we not have a truancy download from IC?

IC have created an attendance extract, but have not created the Truancy extract yet.
From the notes from the Maine State Reporting Focus Group, it looks like they are targeting version 1813 which will be available in March.

I think the only recent change, is that Synergy will now accept Truancy and Attendance uploads (but no manual editing of that data)

And the Maine DOE (in the message you see when you log into Synergy) tells us that Q3 Truancy and Attendance won't be due until around April 1st, and the Q1 and Q2 won't be required.

As I understand it - the Truancy Tab in IC will get an overhaul to include the "pause period" logic that is built into Synergy. But that Truancy data will still need to be manually created on the Truancy Tab, and that the Truancy Extract will be based on data for the Truancy Tab.

I did see some notes from a prior focus group meeting that IC might "Look into calculating the attendance piece of the report".  Which I think is a great idea... having automated triggers (based on attendance data) to maintain truancy records would make the data a lot more accurate, and would save secretaries a bunch of time. If IC don't automate it - then I intend to (for my district anyway).

In theory, 1813 will be pushed out to sites this evening.

Hi Folks,
Our upload person is getting a pause code error.  Does the IC truancy extract need "0" removed from the Pause Codes or is our upload person doing it incorrectly?

Hi All,

Our district has been working on this as well and I made a tutorial that might help with the pause and resume buttons.  https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bS_mzq2q_t4js79I9KBCA7CEjPOoZnU7/view?usp=sharing

Hi,

Just got off the phone with the HelpDesk and apparently IC had built the Pause Code field for two
digits; should be one.

Obviously, when I open up the .csv, Excel takes over and I can't just modify that single column without
the rest of the file going sideways.

Ideas for what we can use to open the file and modify only those data without the rest going wonky?

All Mac, all the time here.

On the mac, textedit should work fine.  If you are really paranoid, you can change the file extension to .txt before editing, then change back to csv after.

Good morning,

I just ran the report out of IC and only 1 digit shows for the pause codes now. I then uploaded into Synergy with no errors! Looks like IC must have fixed the issue?

Sure...and after I spent all that Quality Time with Smultron, it being the
only thing I had handy.

I somehow managed to mess it up in textedit....but by then I was slightly
cross-eyed.

I attempted my upload this morning and have over 100 errors? I am not sure where to even begin? Most say that note is required. I really do not want to tell my truancy officer she needs to go back in and make notes on all of these.

After speaking with Earle I can NOT do an upload from IC and need to re enter all of our events in Synergy one by one? I do not have that time or does our Truancy Officer. Asking her to re do the entire year with 2 months is unacceptable. Potentially these issues need to have been dealt with when they switched to synergy or had been up and running in synergy last summer when it was released.

I'm going to be doing ours today, so I may not be fully up to speed with all the issues, but is it the Synergy upload that's broken, or the IC export?

If the upload works, then why not start with an IC extract and then edit what needs editing to make the upload work (i.e. directly in the upload file using Excel), then try re-upload.

One-at-a-time data entry isn't an acceptable solution in my mind...

And if it's just that you're missing an informal action - then use something generic that can be filled down... something like "followed school attendance protocol" with a date that is the same as the truancy start date (i.e. per row).

And if you have any SQL skills at all... use that generic statement in an insert into IC instead of in excel, and then you'll save yourself a step next time.

I'll probably have some kind of query that'll handle that later today if you're interested.
