discipline recordss

Hi Folks - is anyone aware of a rule/law/policy that requires the deletion of discipline records on students? I recall something but see no reference in the Maine school law book (which I am sure I don't know how to navigate well!).
I was wondering if folks just leave them forever, or treat some behavior events differently that others...
