Is anyone else having problems with the Attendance Wizard. Our attendance clerks have reported that when they use the attendance wizard to edit a student attendance it appears to save but when they go back in to look at the students individual attendance record it did not update.

Hi,

Yes.  We used the Wizard to mark whole grade levels who stayed home on the first day "Absent Exempt"
(value is present) and so far at least, it just randomly just excluded some students, in some sections,
in some periods, from that global attendance application.

Left them defaulted as present, although when the clerks went in and manually found them and
changed them, it took.

They won't use the Wizard again for a while, so I just had 'em fix 'em and forgot about it!

You're right, it is random. It appears to work for some students and not others.

My first thought was that there was a commonality with the students it did work on.

It is not working in RSU4.  It does appear to save but does not.

We figured out what happened. When we set up our calendar for one of our schoos we did not put in start and end times on the period schedule. Since those fields were not red we thought the times was an optional field. However, without times entered this effects attendance wizard check in and check out  and attendance reports. Campus should change this to a required field!

There are also relationships between the schedule period times shown here,
which periods take attendance, whether any are marked as non-instructional
and the length of the school
day, and length of half a school day within Calendar>Calendar>Calendar.

For instance, at my 4-8  school, they only take attendance in HR, which is
20 minutes long.  The length of their school day is 20 minutes.

Whatever the attendance clerk puts in that period is the whole day value
of present or absent.

HS takes period-by-period attendance, and they add up to the whole day.

Half = two of them.

Perhaps I'm having a senior moment, but I think it's new that we can have period times overlap.  This has been handy for me for our ESs where we have half day K and whole day for the rest.  and each only wants to take attendance once during the day.
