Hello

I am just forwarding this message from Tom at Shared Assets.

Hi everyone,

My name is Tom and I'm from a 'think and do' tank called Shared Assets. We work with lots of groups who are using land for the common good - to create social, environmental, and economic value. This includes CSAs and other community food growers, but also groups managing parks, waterways and woodlands. We understand that despite being incredibly resourceful, it is really tough for many of these groups to be sustainable, and so we're always looking for ways to make life easier for them.

We have repeatedly identified improving access to information on land as a key way of promoting common good land use. Imagine if you had access to a simple website that could guide you to the key information that you need to know in order to make decisions about a site. Things like soil quality, infrastructure, climate information, drainage, water flow, biodiversity and detailed 3-d satellite mapping. You may not realise that for many areas, data like these (and many more), is or will soon be available for free. All we need to do is find a way to make them accessible to groups who can use them to create value.

The first step is to find out what data common good land users need the most. We want to talk to social enterprises, community groups, and other social pioneers to find out what information they need to make good decisions. It may be that people have a particular dataset in mind that would be useful to them. Equally it may be that people have absolutely no idea what data is out there, and only know what they need to know. In either case we hope to be able to get the key data to them. We are already in touch with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), who are the ones releasing a lot of this data. They are keen to know what data groups need, and what would help make the most of this data.

If you are interested, or think you could help make this vision a reality, we’d love to hear from you. You don't need to be a data expert, or even to have a clear idea of what you think you need. We want to speak to a range of people, to understand their issues, and to explore whether there is data that could help overcome them. Please send an email to t...@sharedassets.org.uk, or give us a call on 07542063083.

Thanks,

Tom

Hello Tom,

We have received your email forwarded by the CSA network.

We would like to offer our services as a training centre for new and existing CSA participants.

we offer training on how to manage any soil type for the production of fruit and vegetables without any soil analysis. It is very simple with the HH-2 system that we have developed.
This system trains how to manage your natural site water resources for optimum
production and how to turn all crop waste and other organic wastes into optimum fertiliser that will prevent pests and disease on all crop types. No chemicals or sprays of any kind needed. Proved for over 100 years.

We offer training of how to make your own optimum and consistent seed compost. (note. most professionals buy seed compost)

We also offer on site instruction for the operation of the HH-3 compost toilet system for members convenience. This is a totally off grid system that turns waste into pathogen free compost for trees in 90 days! No smell no fuss - no digging out!

Hoping we can be linked to your services.

We are Well End Micro-Farm in the Green Belt of North London.
For contact call 07983439171.

Best regards

Richard Higgins
