On this snowy December day:

Looking out our windows to the snowy trees and the snow on the ground sure paints a beautiful picture for a Christmas card!

So glad to be inside where it is warm and cozy. With the smells of peppermint, pumpkin and fudge in the air it sure smells like Christmas to us.  We are wishing and sending you our blessings for the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ this Christmas. What a year it has been! Leaving our Mission in February was hard! We loved the Navajo people so much and made such wonderful friends.  They taught us as much as we taught them! Their acceptance of us was overwhelming for me (Sandy). They never treated me as a blind person and they just showed love to us.  We will keep them in our hearts forever!

From there we came home with ideas of moving things out that we no longer wanted or needed. In the middle of this my back started giving me trouble.

After 7 or 8 specialists we are hoping we have found the right doctor.

John started having trouble with his leg and neck.  We are still looking into options for him.  The operation is something not to jump into.  We felt with the changes in our neighborhood and dogs running everywhere that maybe it was time to downsize to a smaller house with no steps since this is an issue with me.  From that point to now we have our house for sale and found a lovely house in a 50 plus community.  So we are on a holding pattern right now until something happens where we can move forward.  We are still selling, giving things away and throwing things away.  Going from a 3,000 sq. ft. house to a 1950 sq. ft. house is a big change.

We have started leaving our dog Jet with Bonnie and Bruce (neighbors) when we have to go on short trips with my eye appointments.  That has been wonderful and we thank them so very much for this! Our family seems to be doing ok for now.  We have the first wedding in our grandchildren in January.  Jason who is 20 has found a wonderful young lady and we wish them blessings and happiness. We sure love our family and want them to know this without a

doubt.    Moving onto our trips to Denver to see the doctors there about the

implant in my eye has been rewarding.  We have been there twice and the word is it is a go for me to go ahead with this.  So since the cost is very high and the travel back and forth plus the hotel, food  etc. we are

trying to fund raise.  My daughter Jennifer is doing this on line.   This

is an exciting time in my life to think of what all this might mean to me and being able to feel like I can see objects etc.  I will not see details however will be able to train the mind to be able to recognize cars, street poles, sidewalks etc.  Below is a web site for the fund raising plus a little information on this eye operation.

Santa John is always busy and this time of year is no exception.  Tuning up the sleigh and getting Reindeer Jet trained to lead him to all the boys and girls to bring those presents.  Sandy Claus is baking as always! Trying to think of some really good recipes to give out. Decorating this year was not much since they don't want our house to look cluttered for those who are

coming in to look at our house to buy.   We are sad about that however we

have next year to look forward to that!

From our house to your house and all the love and blessings for all of us and that our New Year will be all what we want and please take time to remember our Lord for without him there is nothing but with him there is everything! Love, joy, smiles, tears, family and friendships.

Love always and forever!

John and Sandy and dog Jet

My mom has been blind nearly 40 years. A hereditary eye condition called Retinitus Pigmentosa robs people of their vision slowly over time and by the time she was in her 30's she was totally blind. She was told she would never see again... this condition has no cure.  Second Sight has decided to...
