Inside Video Description: How Pictures Become Words, a special, live two-hour event in Burbank on May 14th at the Dolby Theater, will bring together Hollywood executives, TV producers, and the disability community to reveal a state-of-the-art process by which professionals with vision loss add value to the description production process. Audio Eyes will demonstrate their quality control process and will broadcast it live online in partnership with the Described and Captioned Media Program, DCMP, a leading distributor of accessible educational media for schools. Executives and producers from Hollywood will be able to attend the live demonstration of the critical video description QC process and to ask questions about aspects that impact their work. Blind consumers who attend the web event will be invited to submit their comments and questions live during the video description process. Americans with vision loss will also have an unprecedented opportunity to learn about professional opportunities in the field of accessible media.
At this special, one-of-a-kind event, Hollywood’s writers, producers, directors, and technicians will come together with educators and individuals from the disability community to see the latest innovations in accessible media.
This exciting new process offers the film and television industry, the creators of America’s most powerful cultural and economic export, a new opportunity to make media inclusive and to work inclusively with ‘disabled’ professionals.
