Painting the Countertops

Hi all - Our 2004 423 has stained and cracked white countertops. They are pretty ugly in some places. I wondered if anyone has tried any of the countertop paint products like this one at Amazon:

Mostly because they are not that bad from a surface perspective.  The small cracks are very superficial and can be filled easy enough with SeamFil.  Finally and mainly because I’d have to replace the Formica.  😊

We actually painted a countertop in the basement at home with Rustoleum,  Sanded the countertop, filled in some cracks etc and then slowly rolled it on with a foam brush. Has held up for a couple of years - and its a retro blue color !

It is my understanding that the Beneteau service tech who did the warranty repairs for Beneteau is in Annapolis and will do the repair to the Beneteau specs.

That includes removal of the cabinets and fiddles.

I was told it runs $2,800.00 from Great Hudson Sail Center a Beneteau dealer.

Haven't tried but I am planning on buying water resistant charts cutting them to size, gluing to counter and putting clear epoxy over it.  Just an idea

That Giani kit looks pretty interesting. 

I was just about to ask the list for opinions about Corian. I have a guy who will install Corian in our Jeanneau galley for $200 labor, but getting a piece of solid surface material is $300-600. I'm also reluctant to use Formica. It may be worth $80 to try this.

Well, I’ll let everyone know.  We prepped the surfaces and laid down the primer over the weekend.  Anyone have any tips on how to NOT have varnish come off with the painter’s tape?

I need to give it a light 600 grit sanding then add a third layer of their top coat, but I am happy with the results.  My only problems were with the edges and with my varnish being stripped by the painter’s tape.  I am going to run a thin bead of white caulk along all of the seams to clean up the edges.  I’m not sure what I’ll do about the varnish though.

Thanks! That looks good & I think I'll try it, probably with the same color. By problems with the edges, do you mean the paint runs on the vertical edges, such as the end of the counter, sink edges and fridge edges, or are you referring to the circled areas?

Here are the final results after another coat of topping and a bead of white caulk.  I’m pretty happy with it.
