I have redone the lights on our 400. The key was to remove the acrylic lens and get both the lens and the deck clean. Like real clean

 

It took a long time to get all of the old chalk off of tbe deck.

In my case I used Dow 795 black. It is thicker than Sikaflex which runs everywhere. Dow is very strong and still flexible 

A big bead of about 10mm wide and deep. Set the lens in and make sure it has a seal all the way around. Then let it cure overnight before you fill in the ditch and then use a spoon with dish soap to make a nice finished seal.

In removing the glass lots of patience and a sharp thin blade. Work it from the top right at the edge of the lens and from the bottom inside the bottom.cut it horizontal. It should move a bit and then follow along with a sharp blade.

It will take up the best part of day. The cleaning is worth the time to get a good seal.

Anyone ever rebed a skylight?
Ours is leaking badly. I cleaned out caulking and had an expert re caulk. It leaked worse then ever.
To fix I must remove glass with a chance of breaking. Boatyard will do the job but breakage is possible.
Any ideas or suggestions?

What model of B do you have. TONY from Select Plastic may be able to make a new lens. He isn't cheap however it will work and be a quicker solution.

I have an Oceanis 440.

The problem with a new lens is that there is a silver ring around the lens. A new one won't match the other side.

The silver is a painted on the acrylic surface to keep the adhesive sealant from UV damage

 

Beneteau suggest Kyrlon paint. You can do the new one and the old one at the same time. 

Better yet is to make a very precise hard template. Have two new ones made, pre paint the boarders and then install them and reseal into the well cleaned deck. Select Plastic  have the B green in 3/8 and 1/2 material.

As I recall on the 400 there was small rubber trim that fitted between the lens and the inside of the cabin liner. Too hard to put back in place.

In my case I masked off the inner area and formed a nice inside cove with Dow 795. I used a small tongue depresser dipped in dish soap to make the finished product. 

Dow 795 sets up in about 18 hours however it does not fully cure for about 10 days.  Be sure the humidity is no higher than 60 percent fkr the first 24 hours. The good news it does not run on a vertical surface.

Tony says that removing and fixing a 20 year old plastic is almost impossible.

He also thinks it is probably not flat.

MY 400 is flat. Yes yours may he different. Take a steel 18 inch ruler and lay it on the lens edge down. You will soon know if is flat.

In my case I did not replace the lens. I just removed it and cleaned it and re cleaned it and then put it back in 

I am not sure what Tony thinks is wrong with it other than I am certain it is crazed from both the sun and chemicals. 

Tony might not be the world's most positive thinker however he does know how to bill.

You can just buy a rough cut piece of the B green from Select Plastic.  Make an accurate template and then get it machined locally. 

It will be the cheapest way to go.

Like many things it depends on your skills. It’s not difficult to cut but to get a good finish on the edges requires flame polishing. That’s easy to screw up.

 

It is probably better to let the pros do that rather than having to buy a second piece of material!

If you have the right tools you can do it. You want the edges smooth you need to polish them with a belt or wheel. It would not be my strongest skill set as the lens is not a rectangular shape. 

One would want the corners all nice and true.
