Fwd: In mast furling

Good afternoon,

Can anyone help with the following. I'm not getting much useful information from Sparcraft. 

Has anyone replaced the bearings in their Sparcraft in mast furler?  Wondering if it can be done and if it helped with the smoothness of the furler.

I have read the attached information on your website and have conducted all appropriate maintenance. 

What I was wondering is that after 17 years there are parts that have become worn and could be replaced especially the bearings?  Is there a method of replacing the bearings or would this not have any effect.

Hi,

I have a 2000 Beneteau 361 equipped with Sparcraft in mast furling. I oil the bearings annually however the gear does not seem to turn as smoothly anymore. Is there a rebuild kit available of some sort, is there a way to refurbish the furling gear?  Can I simply change out the bearings myself?  Any instruction or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

The furling drum w/line is sent back to U.S.Spar (?) as an assembly for refurbishment and line replacement. Cost is reasonable and fairly prompt turn around. Ours turned out to have bent shaft which they replaced. I don't believe they will sell parts only.

This is Sparcraft though. All they did was provide the same info as on the website. No offer to have it sent in to be refurbished.
