Hello Everyone,
I want to thank Mayor Walsh (below) and Sheriff Tompkins for withdrawing their support of this proposal.
I want thank our local elected officials and to everyone who joined the conversation and raised their voices in opposition. Passion, commitment, perseverance and community made the difference here.
Special thanks goes to Joanne D'Alcomo, Kevin Cleary and Mike Dziedzic for leading the effort. We are prepared and will mobilize if the proponent plans to proceed with the abutters meeting and appear before the Zoning Board of Appeal.
Our work is not done.
There is still electronic billboards proposed for 64 Lincoln St, 296 North Beacon St and 9-21 Braintree St that are at different stages of the approval process that will require our attention.
Finally there is some talk that BPDA is working on a proposal to relax the zoning guidelines for billboards along the Massachusetts Turnpike and I93 corridors.
I can assure you that this all about who we are and where we are located and cashing in for a big windfall and has absolutely nothing to do with any perceived benefits they may insult our intelligence with.
Let's keep up the good fight.
Tony

Hello Everyone,
I want to share with you another community victory at the Boston Board of Appeal.
As you know last month, the proposal for a billboard at 94 Lincoln St was withdrawn and today the Boston Board of Appeal denied the proposal of 64 Lincoln St to use a mesh screen to shield a new billboard from the community in an attempt to circumvent a state regulation of prohibiting billboards from within 300 feet of public parks and playgrounds. (Portsmouth Street Playground is firmly within the regulation's protection.)
We believe this decision by the Boston Board of Appeal will make it virtually impossible for the proponent to obtain state approval if they so choose to go before the Massachusetts Outdoor Advertising Board.
We will remain vigilant.
I want thank the Mayor's Office of Neighborhood Services, Councilors Ciommo and Essaibi George, Representatives Honan and Moran, Senators Brownsberger and DiDomenico, Joanne D'Alcomo, Mike Dziedzic and to everyone who continue to raise their voices in opposition.
Hello Everyone,
In my eagerness to testify, I didn't realize representatives on behalf of Councilors Pressley and Wu also expressed opposition. I thank them as well.
Tony
