Hello all,
It's wonderful to see how many volunteers are turning out this year to help clean up 'gritty Allston'. Our sincerest thanks to all the kind folks at Boston University and others for doing such a fantastic job.
On behalf of the Friends of the Honan-Allston Library, I want to thank Harvard University and the Harvard Business School, the Earthwatch Institute, and so many others who pitched in last Friday in connection with Boston Shines to clean the Honan-Allston Library gardens, Smith and Hooker Parks, Thomas Gardner and Jackson-Mann Schools and other areas of Allston-Brighton. The Harvard Gazette took lots of photos of the workers which can be viewed on-line soon. I snapped a few photos of the lovely daffodils that have just bloomed in the front of the Honan-Allston Library which was weeded and trash picked up by the many volunteers.
We hope that some day rather than refer to Allston as "gritty", it will be known as clean and awesome Allston.
Yours truly,
Paula Alexander
