www.CityofBoston.gov/Recycle | 617-635-4500 | recy...@boston.gov Spring Leaf and Yard Waste Collection 4 Weeks April 28 - May 23 on your recycling day by 7:00am Look Up Your Recycling Day Place leaves, and yard debris in large paper leaf bags or open barrels labeled "yard waste" (no plastic bags). Yard Waste stickers for barrels are available by calling 617-635-4500 or placing an online service request (up to 2 stickers available per household). Yard waste will not be collected with trash. Tie branches with string, 3' maximum length, 1" maximum diameter. Do not put branches in barrels. Put barrels, bags and brances on the curb by 7:00am on your recycling day from April 28 throught May 23, 2014.  Collecting leaf and yard waste for composting saves tax dollars, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and produces compost!   More Information   Discount Compost Bins for Sale   Composting is the controlled decomposition of organic material. You can compost in your own backyard or even inside your apartment. Outdoor compost bins are available to residents at subsidized rates at:   Boston Building Resources 100 Terrace Street, Mission Hill 617-442-2262 Directions Compost Bin: $50 (nearly half the suggested retail price) You can fill a compost bin with 12 bags of leaves. Bin size is adjustable. Within a year, your yard waste  composts into 200 lbs of highly nutritious dirt. Kitchen Scrap Bucket: $10 Kitchen scrap bucket has a handle and lid and holds 7 liters. It's a clean and convenient way to collect food scraps for your compost bin.
