Program Descriptions

 

 

*ABCD Case Management Services: Every Wednesday between 1 – 4 pm.  We help with services such as: housing search, SNAP/Food Stamp Applications, Cooking classes, Cradles to Crayons registration.  Please call: 617-903-3640 for an appointment in the community center.

Computer Lab: Adult, drop-in computer lab is open Tues – Fri, 10 am – 6 pm/Sat 9 – 5 pm, for all Allston-Brighton residents. Youth under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a parent. This is not an instructional course. Computer Tutor: You can sign up for one-on-one tutoring sessions with a student at the center.

 

*Basic Computer Classes: Provided by Harvard Allston Workforce Collaborative. Classes for job seekers only and pre-registration required. Must be an Allston-Brighton resident. Questions contact: Meghan Bea - 617-384-9441

 

Playgroups: Allston/Brighton Family Nurturing Center of Massachusetts offers free Playgroups for children ages 2 – 4, their younger siblings, and parents.

*English as Second Language (Sat): Courses are free of charge and taught by certified teachers and volunteers: SATURDAY- 9:30am – 12:30pm. English as Second Language (Conversation Class): Free drop-in class for advanced beginner/intermediate level adults led by Boston College students. *ESOL Tutor (Tuesday): Make apts. with Boston College student by signing up in community center.

 

Dance for Adults, Dance for Kids, Teen Music & Movement, Relax & Meditate: Drop-in classes led by a Lesley University graduate student.

 

*Women’s Leadership Group: Must register for this series of classes led by a Lesley University graduate student. 

 

*Beginning Yoga: Must register for this 6 class series which will be led by a certified teacher.  A limit of 10 students. 

 

Meditation Classes: Reverend Kim leads drop-in classes for adults and children on Saturdays: 2 -3 pm (adults & kids).

 

*WeCast Media: WeCast Media offers free video/media training courses to Charlesview residents and Allston-Brighton community members. Participants will learn how to film, edit, and create their own videos from a topic of their choice. Must be 10 years old or older to participate.  Limit of 10 people per class.
