Hello Everyone,
Once a year, colleges and universities are required to submit a report to the City of Boston by October 1 that includes the following:
- a summary of student enrollment and statistics on where they live
- a list, including addresses, of students living off campus in Boston, and
- a list of all school buildings used for housing
I have attached the University Accountability Report (summary) for 2017-2018.
Based on a BPDA publication in 2016:
- In Allston there were 2,341 undergraduate students living off-campus (3rd place) and 2,210 graduate students living off-campus (2nd place)
- In Brighton there were 1,554 undergraduate students living off-campus (5th place) and 2,360 graduate students living off-campus (1st place)
According to “Housing A Changing City – Boston 2030”, the Mayor’s goal is to create 16,000 new undergraduate student dorm beds, reducing the number of students living off-campus in Boston by 50 percent as well as creating dedicated housing for 2,500 additional graduate students.
According to a recent update from the City (October 9, 2014 - June 30, 2017) 5,664 dorm beds have been permitted and 3,072 are complete.

I reached out to BC to clarify their numbers and received this from Jack Dunn:
Boston College has about 9,100 undergraduates.
7600 live in University housing
3400 live in BC residence halls located within the City of Boston.
4200 live in BC residence halls located within the City of Newton.
On average 400 students per semester are abroad.
About 1,100 undergraduates live in off-campus in apartments in Brighton and Newton.
One can plot the addresses from Excel into a Google map.
