Tim,

Thanks for your posting. I am very interested in following your restoration. I have an 81/31 and we love her. We use her as our beachfront property. We have ours in Destine, FL; where is yours? Best of luck.

Thanks,
John

Picked up an 1983 Allmand 31 for cheap. Needs total restoration inside. Love the boat! Just tore out the entire interior this week. Pulled the motor too. Neglect and hatch leaks left the interior as mush. We are taking pics and videos as we go if anybody is interested. Exterior isnt bad. Good sails.

Hi John.  I started another post because I posted this one from my phone and thought it didn't go through, so you might want to follow that one from here on out.  We are in the upper Chesapeake near North East Maryland.  I will take some pictures tomorrow and try to post the empty shell.  We took out the 4 larger portlights that were broken and couldn't be repaired.  I have a ton of Lexan lying around from a previous job(I am a General Contractor) so we opted to change out the small portlights for the larger fixed windows that some of the Allmand 31's came with.  I like the additional light it allows in and I think it looks nicer as well.  We just cut those out today and installed the new glass.  I will make interior and exterior trim rings later this winter, but they are at least sealed up for now.  This boat needs a ton of work, so the more I can save on money the better.  Plus we want to do some upgrades such as generator/air conditioning.  Then slip rental, etc..  Adds up fast.  Though we expected it.  The 7 smaller portlights are in need of new glass/gaskets/screens.  These are still available from Beckson, but will run about 90 per window to bring up to par.  Still better than 140+ for new ones.  I pulled them out with great ease.  I reckon that is a testament to how well they were sealed considering they all leaked badly.  The wife suggested I just replace all the portlights with fixed ones since we have the materials and we don't see much call to open them with the three deck hatches.  We are getting ready to repaint and replace the glass in the deck hatches as well.  And to think I almost threw all this lexan away.  I still have a ton left!  More posts will follow......Tim and Tiff(TNT)

Hi Tim,

Sorry for the delay in the message post.  Every new poster has to be approved as a new PERSON and for whatever reason your first post didn’t appear as a APPROVE MESSAGE. It wasn’t until you posted a second time that we saw the first and second post. Your good to post now. Might see you on the Chesapeake, hope to.

Thanks Lee.  I was thinking that might of happened.  I even checked my email to make sure I didn't need to CONFIRM my membership like some forums do. No worries, glad things are showing up now.  Where are you on the Bay? We are thinking about moving the boat south to Worton Creek area when we are done work on her.......TNT

This winter I’m on the hard doing the motor at Casa Rio, normally home port
is on the Magothy at the mouth of Deep Creek. We normally make several
trips to Swan Creek, we think it is one of the nicest places to visit.
