Looking to build up a commuter on the cheap. I have a 650b wheelset I'd like to use, have bars, stem, etc..

Need a frame first and foremost.

53 to 55cm top tube is would be good, PBH is 83..

Thanks all

Igor, I've got a 55cm Bleriot I'd like to move with Berthoud S/S fenders that fit 650b x 42's with a Spanninga Pixeo Tail light, Dia Compe center pulls with good Kool Stop Eagle claw pads, a V/O sealed bearing headset and a 1" Tektro front cable hanger.

I am the third owner but the second didn't fit it well and moved it to me pretty quick. The original dude was from Colorado, so I was told. The frame, fork and fenders are plenty nicked and scratched but its not rusty and has been treated with frame saver and well babied over it's time with me (except, I guess for the fact that it ran duty as a four season NYC commuter for 3 full years).

Anyway, I can't let it go super-cheap 'cause it's a Taiwanese Riv from the Maxway factory, after all ... the thing likely has a millennium's worth of life left.

If you're not familiar with the bike it's geo is available for searching via Google but just ask me if you're interested and I'll find it and send pics, too.

$750.00 (+) bike flights from NYC.

lemme know / jsk

Jeff, I'd love to, and the price sounds fair, but it's more than I'd want to spend on a commuter - given my two Salsa bikes, i wanted something cheap that I wouldn't feel bad using. Someone else should buy it to put me out of my misery

Thanks Cameron, I e-mailed you back with pictures last night -- did you not get that?

I did -- thank you. At work now so I'll be brief. Sorry for the redundancy; it's SOP in some forums and I'm new to the 650b group.

I did a very satisfying 650B conversion on a 1985 Schwinn Tempo.  Here's one on ebay in your size range for $200

If your 650B rear wheel is already 126mm, you're golden.  If not, you might have a little work to do...

Here's my conversion:

And here it is going into its Rinko Bag

I love the shipping price on that Schwinn though - nearly as much as buying the bike!
