Hello All
I was wondering if anybody could recommend a printer with duel extruders that can print very high detail .
I would like to be able to print different materials from ABS, nylon, wood and so on.
Be great to have control over the temperature of the bed and print head.
A reasonable size print area.
In the last year I had a uprint plus nice prints but it cost $350 a roll of filament and you needed a roll of soluble filament as well to print. So $700 just to get going. And it was ABS only.
So I would like to keep the price down.
Thank you for your help.

Solidoddle. Kimball has one, and his reviews on it are great!

For dual extruders, I would actually recommend the spiderbot delta. Has a good size build area, heated bed and chamber, and for dual extrusion it is the only printer I have seen with the ability to lift the inactive nozzle, similar to how t the u-print works. You can get high temp option for hot end too for exotics, and the bed is pei, which is what I have found to be by far the best bed material. Finally, the magnetic ball joints used are zero-backlash, so precision is excellent.

I don't have any affiliation with the company, but I recommend it because it is exactly what I would build myself if I were to get a new printer right now.

Forgot to include a link: http://spiderbot.eu/en/

Also, a quick note on pei, Don't print ninja flex or any other poly urethane filaments on it, they stick WAY too well. Plain glass is best for them. You can print poly carbonate on it, but you need to apply a thin coating of ABS dissolved in acetone first, as the PC won't stick well to the pei, but it does stick well to ABS. PET can be printed on it, with the thin coating of ABS optional (I have had mixed results on clean pei, but reliable adhesion when I forgot to clean the ABS off after printing PC). PLA works amazingly well on pei, it adheres perfectly when the bed is heated, and pops off cleanly when cooled using a paint scraper (I have found that using a similar technique to flipping pancakes, sliding the edge of the spatula rapidly into the edge of the part along the bed works best).

Sorry for going a bit off topic.

Hello Jeremiah

The retail price on the "Evolution is $6,500.00. If this seem s a little steep, just make sure your comparing apples to apples. You will soon discover just how much of a bargan "Evolution" really is. I invite you to come over and check it out for your self. Just give me a call and set up a time. 604-671-5875

Solidoodle is reported to be on the verge of bankruptcy and taking money without fulfilling orders.  I would get the Chinese clone from Geeetech before I would order a Solidoodle now. There is a thread about this on Soliforum.com which is not affilated with the company.  Cheers.

Didn't know about the bankruptcy, haven't been paying as much attention as I should.  Have to say, given what I have read, I would not recommend sending money to solidoodle, as much as I liked their company in the past.

The Geetech one is a clone of my printer, the solidoodle 2, and I have to say it is a solid starter machine, for a very reasonable price.  I have made a lot of modifications to it over the years, including upgrading the extruder to an E3D v6 (now with a PT100 temp sensor!), PEI bed (thick sheet attached to a sheet of glass which I can flip over), new electronics (got a RAMBO 2nd hand, and wanted to give it a try), and an upgraded power supply (ATX 650 watt).  In addition, I have printed quite a few parts to upgrade it such as a new extruder assembly to hold the E3D and fan ducts etc.  That being said, I did this mostly to expand the types of materials I could print, rather than to drastically improve the print quality.

Personally I wouldn't buy anything until after CES (next week) as it may be a very different landscape in consumer 3dp with the Solidoodle rumours, 3D Systems walking away from consumers, HP entering the industrial space, etc.
