assalamu alaikum

I uploaded two new fonts developed by me. Most of outlines comes from
"KFGQPC Uthman Taha Naskh" font and the VOLT project from the
"me_quran" font. I designed some outlines and made some changes in the
VOLT project.

Wa Alaikumassalaam,

Muhammat, thanks for the new font. I'm very excited to see a new movement in designing Qur'anic fonts.

A few comments:
1. Is this font based on version 0.08 of KFGQPC or 0.0.7. I think it's based on the older one because issue with Allah, fixed in 0.08, exists in your font (see  Allah in the first line of attached file).
2. Diacritics are generally nearer to its base character in KFGQPC than ma_quran.
3. Why hamza is placed under its kursi when comes together with kasra (see al-laee at the end of first line in the picture attached)?

And a few thanks:
- it's good that you provided waqf marks in your font.
- it's good that when shadda+kasra come together, you place kasra under base word (like Madina Mushaf).
- it's good that you changed default sokoon shape from an rounded closed circular shape to an open circle (like Madina Mushaf).
- it's generally more compatible with Uthmani Quran script (when compared in Uthman Taha theme). KFGQPC is still not compatible with Uthmani script.

I don't know about other features of this font. Could you please be kind to us to introduce some of the features of this font over it's predecessor (KFGQPC).

BTW, I think we can distribute with Zekr instead of, yet incomplete KFGQPC font, as it's license terms allows modification here. How is your license terms for the font. Do you allow free (re)distribution?

Regards,
Mohsen

s.a.
Mohsen,
I corrected the shadda + superscriptalef problem and uploaded the
fonts again.

For your comments,
1. I copied outlines of some glyphs from KFGQPC Ver 0.07. I see your
the ver 0.08 after your comments. But there is no change on the
outlines. The adjusting of diacritics is binary data in the KFGQPC. I
can not copy this data from KFGQPC. This daha comes with
"me_quran_volt_mark2.ttf" font that distributed with Zekr. This font
has text data for adjusting the diacritics and contex of the letters.
This text data is readable by Microsoft VOLT program.
2. I designed some glyphs and added to the font. For fine adjusting of
diacritics I need more time. Inshaallah for the next versions I wish
to achieve this task.
3. When the hamza takes kasra, it places under the kursi in Madina
Mushaf. You can see the word of "mâidah" (Maidah 112, 114).

There is no special feature other then "me_quran_volt_mark2.ttf" font.
Because, "me_quran" font isn't different from that font except
outlines and metrics of the letters. Also I derived its name from that
font.

I want it to be part of Zekr and to change the font name to "Zekr
Quran", what do you say?

Salaam,

Muhammet, thanks for the explanation. I was wrong about kasra+hamza.

Thanks for your kind suggestion. It's my pleasure that you name it Zekr Quran. I'll add it inshaAllah in the next release.

Mohsen

salaam alaikum,
Thanks Muhammet for wonderful font.
I'm a Linux user and I have always had problem with arabic fonts with
the placement of shaddah+fattah on Allah ligature. I know it is a
known issue and reported here https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=437633
I was able to spend sometime last year researching this issue and came
up with a workaround and contacted Meor Ridzuan author of the me_quran
font. He however did not have time to apply the work around and
release a new version. I have made this change internally on the
me_quran font. I however cannot distribute this change as the license
for me_quran prohibits me from doing so.
I'm having the same problem with ma_quran font when I use it on Linux.
So I'm requesting if you could please make this change in your font.
Here is part of the email I sent to Meor back in Feb 09.
"I found that making a small change in your font, this problem can be
fixed. Now as I understand that pango process the GSUB tables for
Arabic not in the order they appear but in a fixed order like ccmp,
locl, isol, fina, media, init, rlig, calt, liga, cswh and mset.
Because of this calt for lam_medial + heh_final is processed before
lam_initial + lam_medial + heh_final = allahisolated ligature. If I
change the table type of allahisolated ligature to rlig from liga, it
is processed before calt and this problem is not encountered. I'm not
sure if this causes any other problem and I'm not sure why something
should be rlig and other should be liga. I'll appreciate if you can
shed some light on this."
So basically I changed table type of allahisolated ligature from rlig
to liga in me_quran font. And that fixed the problem of position of
shaddah on the Allah ligature. I currently do not have the tools to
edit fonts with me. If you can make this change, I'll be happy to test
this in Linux for you.
JazakAllah Khair

Salaam

Just to confirm this issue. I tried to do what mkaz said, changed
allahisolated ligature from liga to rlig (actually, the opposite of
what mkaz said, but since it was already liga I just switched them)
and fathah and šaddah are displayed correctly now, i.e., on the second
lam, instead of on ha'.

assalamu alaikum

Inshaallah, I will release a new version of "ma_quran" under the name
of "Zekr Quran". I can change the lam+lam+heh (lafzatullah) ligature
from "liga" to "rlig" tag and there is no problem if the lafzatullah
ligature in the "liga" or "rlig". Both of them have same result on the
Windows. But I don't use Linux and not know the result. I need
feedback after releasing the font.

Thanks for the new Quran font. I hope you can make ARABIC END OF AYAH
۝ and arabic numerals combine just like the font Scheherazade and
Lateef fonts from SIL, That move will make the font more prestige.

Assalamu Aliakum,
Dear brother, I trying to develop a mobile application where as part of functionality I need to implement the Uthmani fonts. I have the data downloaded from the Tanzil.net with all diacritical marks. Well I tried to use the below suggested font, unfortunately they are not supporting the iOS applications. I will really appreciate if you can guide me some workarounds to implement the same.

Assalamu ‘Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh,

Dear Br. Muhammed Abay,
I live in Australia, and I am a Qur'an Teacher,
I strictly follow the standard Uthmani text as it is used by the Diyanet approved Mushafs.
I use a lot of typed arabic text in my notes with my students.
I recently came across a Qur'an app for the iPhone I think using the KFGQPC Uthmanic Script HAFS font (sample attached) with slight variations which is perfectly adapted to the Diyanet approved Mushafs.
My Question is:
1. Am I correct in my assumption that it is indeed the KFGQPC Uthmanic Script HAFS typeface.
2. Is this text of this Mushaf available on the internet for free public use (like many others in the market)
3. If this is not available, where can I get that tweaked font that caters for the Alif Maqsurah below the letter Yaa for example. (would you have it for example)
4. I use your font Traditional Naskh already (Jazakallah for your fine efforts)

Thanking you in Advance
Mahmud

Assalamualykum..

Dear Br Muhammet Abay

I am very thankful for this font, I am also a quran teacher and I am trying my best to teach my students the uthmani script Quran since this script is much easy to read.

Am I right to say this font that you developed only has one type of tanween - which means the tanween for this font is only the Idzhar tanween in uthmani script Quran (the fathatain and kasratain are straight)? Or if this font has both type of tanween (the other tanween in uthmani script Quran, fathatain and kasratain is not straight), how do I type it?
