Hi, Whats the state of play with the alpha Postman import addon please? I have the latest version of it from Marketplace

I have just tried to use with a valid collection but its not importing: I exported version 2 and version 2.1 type postman collections and tried both

In the output tab:
"Failed to import [collection name]: request is not present
No item could be imported from the collection. Please check if the items exist and if they are valid."

I have looked on the 2.15 milestone but couldn't see reference to postman in it.

Is no-one else having problems with this?

thanks

The Postman add-on was a Google Summer of Code (GSoC) project.
Ideally we hope that GSoC contributors stick around and keep improving their projects, but we understand that not everyone can do this.

Typically the ZAP Core Team does take on work that was started as GSoC projects, but it will need to be factored in with everything else we need to work on.
Can you share a failing example? That would be very helpful.

Cheers,

Simon

I don't know tbh - being work code, depends what I am allowed to share...

Yes, we just need an example that exhibits the problem, we do not need a real world example.

Found an example I think.

and
https://petstore.swagger.io/v2/swagger.json

imported swagger into postman by using url above
checked it worked by running sending a request.

exported collection as 2.1 format
imported into new 2.14 zap session using postman import 0.2.0

zap import failed
"Failed to import [folder name] : request field is not present

I then moved a couple of requests to the root level of the import and deleted all folders - checked a request worked in postman and np.

I then imported into a new zap session without issue

So it seems as though collections with folders are not being read properly.

if I am right it could be a simple work around for me to flatten the structure of the postman collection before exporting it from postman and importing into zap - I will check when I get a chance on the actual case I am having an issue with.

See what you think...

How about raising a new issue and attaching the failing Postman petstore definition? :)

But its definitely worth trying to flatten your structure as a workaround.

Cheers,

Simon
