Hello,

I am installing Zap for the first time on my Windows 10 64-bit computer. I am receiving a Java error during the installation:
The install4j wizard could not find a Java(TM) Runtime Environment on your system. Please locate a suitable 64-bit JRE. (minimum version: 1.8)

I click on the locate button and browse to my Java version and select it, then I get this error:
The JVM found at C:\Program Files (x86)\jre1.8.0_281\bin\java.exe is damaged. Please install or define EXE4J_JAVA_HOME to point to an installed 64-bit JDK or JRE.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Java and did a restart. I tried to install Java into C:\Program Files instead of C:\Program Files (x86), but when I change the location during the java install I get an error and Java won't install.

I set the EXE4J_JAVA_HOME and JAVA_HOME path variables. I am not sure how to get Zap installed. Any help would be great.

Thanks!

C:\Program Files (x86)\jre1.8.0_281\bin\java.exe appears to be a 32bit java install (hence x86) but the installer is looking for x64, so using an appropriately bit'd java install would work too. (Or switching to the 32bit installer)

I believe this is related to using a non-Oracle Java. If you're using Adopt OpenJDK you can choose to set the Oracle Path or Registry info (or both) while you go through the install.

The other option is to simply use a weekly build, unzip it and launch with zap.bat.

What did you end up doing?

(Details might help others)

I installed the 32bit Zap and I am up and running.
