1) I installed zap on my VM , the tool is very slow to load and open , once i open and launch the browser through manual explore , firefox opens and disappers , chrome doesnt open at all.
firefox version is 76.0 , chrome is 81.0.4044.122
I am running ZAP  using java 8 .
I am trying to host webgoat on zap . webgoat runs on port 8080.
i changed port of zap to 8090 and i tried with different others . it didnt work either .
Whats the issue?
When i launch the zap through windows it works fine with no issues.

2) where do I find log files in zap Tool

please help

Have you installed any updates?
The browser launch functionality relies on the selenium and webdriver add-ons which often have to change to cope with new browser versions.
See https://www.zaproxy.org/faq/somethings-not-working-what-should-i-do/ for more troubleshooting tips and where you can find the logs.

I checked the update list , it says ZAP is on the latest version and there is no new update available.
The browser is launching now , but it is too slow . when i launch the browser and perform some actions and go back to zap , ZAP freezes .
Why is it  too slow?

I have 3 VM's . I have dedicated 1 VM sepearately for ZAP , so Im pretty sure its not memory issues.
Even the firefox browser when i launch it manually,  is slow, if i click on something i have to wait for some time before it does anything.

Strange.
Are there any errors in the zap.log file?

Does firefox run slowly even when its not proxying through ZAP?

I face the same issues but I figured it was in isolated incident. I did not find any particularly significant messages in the log file related to this.

No errors in log file
firefox and chrome works smooth and fast when its not proxing through ZAP.

1) when I proxy the firefox through windows version of ZAP it works fine and is NOT slow .

2) when I proxy the firefox through linux version of ZAP its very slow.

what might be the issue ?
I dnt think its the issue with my VM , because The VM works smooth  for Webgoat .

Its not something I've experienced, but there again I dont use ZAP in a VM.

Anyone else seen something like this, or have any other ideas?

Did you start up Firefox in "safe mode" mode ("-safe-mode") so that none of your plug-ins are used? Because having something like NoScript plug-in enabled would definitely cause all kinds of slowdowns even if you had white-listed the site you are testing.

Happened to me once, using Firefox with NoScript. ZAP probably ought to mention that in one of their FAQs.
