Hi all,

For my experiment, I have burrowed AWS instance from one of my friends; he basically shared his AMI to my account and with which I launched an instance.
Now, I have been trying to connect the instance with the PuTTY and generate z-tree links for the online experiment. Unfortunately, I have been receiving error messages shown in the picture. I wonder if anyone could help. I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi,

Have you followed the precise steps outlined here? https://cler1.gitlab.io/ztree-unleashed-doc/docs/installation-server/

Best,

Max

Hi Max,
Thank you for your reply. If I understand it correctly, I assume you are suggesting to reinstall the entire system. But our zTu system is working correctly. The problem is I am unable to generate links for experiment participants using PuTTY, and I have been encountering problems shown in the attached pictures:

I would like to discuss what I have done so far so that you could give me better insight.
1. My friend gave permission to use his Amazon Machine Image (AMI) to my account; he shared his AMI with my account so that I could use it in my account. Then using the AMI, I launched an instance in Amazon Web Server (AWS). I have been successful connecting that AWS instance with the PuTTY. But once I try generating links for experiment participants, I fail.

So, in this scenario, I wonder what can I do next?

How do you run start_session.sh?

Is it possible that you run it via sudo?

So, here is what I have been trying:
1. Once I start my PuTTY, I type the following codes which all works (see pics):

sudo su – lab

cd scripts

ls

2. I see two z-tree and z-leaf executables each and I try the following codes on each to see which one works:

sudo (space) ./start_session_simple.sh

unfortunately this code does not work on either  z-tree and z-leaf executables available to me. After the failure of this code, I try

sudo systemctl stop apache2

sudo (space) ./start_session_simple.sh

Yet it is not working and I am getting the error messages that fails to generate the experiment link.

Yup, that's wrong. Sudo must not be used here. See the instructions I linked below.
