There is nothing unusual in this dream. Your living body wants to join a conclave, but its members kicked you out, knowing that you will betray them.

In a normal dream of adoption, you will join the communion and wake up with strange power.

The confusion derives from what is called a spiritual ambiguity of the door that opens and closes at the same time.

The door to the cave opens.

He sees the light behind

Darkness in front

A door without a gate

A door without a lock

But the feet cannot enter.

Could you give me the evidence, TF.

The evidence derives from the dream: intuition.

Strange Dreams While Sleeping in My Living Room

Picture above is of my puzzled self immediately after the incident described below.

We recently bought new furniture for our living room in our house in Ikeja,  Lagos,  and, on account of the comfort of the place, other members of the family have been sleeping there at times,  without incident, but my inadvertently falling asleep there last night and this night, Dec 17, 2024, have led to strange, emotionally disturbing dreams.

Last night, on Dec 16, taking a break from work, I fell asleep in the living room,  seating upright on a chair.

I dreamt I was working on a book which I did not know was a magical object.

As I worked on the book, unknown to me, my efforts were activating a negative spirit which would otherwise have remained latent.

When the spirit was sufficiently galvanized it came after me.

Realizing the danger, I ran, finding I was in my aunties house in England, where I had lived for a time.

The spirit was manifest as a line of bluish light with something like a frontal protuberance like a head.

The entity finally caught up with me and I tried to cry out the name of Jesus, which I normally do when I have bad dreams, upon which the dream would dissipate and I would wake up, but this time, calling out the name was so difficult, as if my lips were weighted and my whole body seemed trapped in a cocoon making movement almost impossible.

Since invoking the name of Jesus was proving difficult, I then began to sing a Christian worship song as the insubstantial but frightening entity advanced.

As I began to sing the worship song, the situation snapped and I woke up.

The whole encounter took place in a state between waking and sleeping, in which one is not fully asleep but not fully awake, a twilight zone.

On the night of this morning, Dec 17, again taking a break from work at about 2 am, I curled up on one of the cushions in the living room to rest.

Before resting, keeping in mind my experience of the previous night, I barricaded myself spiritually using a version of the sign of the cross adapted to Yoruba origin Orisha spirituality and also added another adaptation of the Christian sign of the cross, which, unlike the Christian version, includes an invocation to "the mother" instead of only to "the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit".

I practise diverse spiritualities, at times modifying and syncretizing them.

I fell asleep and dreamt a friend and I were in another country, which came to my mind as the Netherlands.

The place was something like an inn, with a good number of customers, all Caucasian, and where one could order food.

My friend and I called the attention of the waiter to take our order and he came over.

Instead of simply taking our order, however, he accused me of owing him money, claiming I had not paid for a previous order I had made.

I was puzzled since I knew nothing about that.

As I approached him to politely question the logic of his claim, perhaps touching his sleeve, he fell to the ground and began to convulse.

In alarm, I reached out to help him up but he kicked me away, as I observed that the dimensions of his body were not human although he was humanoid, looking more like a diminutive child with the features of an adult.

Puzzled, I tried to explain the situation to the other customers at the inn, and they let me know that they identified with me in my claim of not owing the waiter and his establishment and urged me to be on my way and not bother about the situation.

I fleetingly observed that they had strange faces, with one of them, who was particularly nice in addressing my discomfort, having an unusually long and curved jaw while another had strange pockmarks on his face.

My friend's presence was sensed as a supportive companion but he did nothing throughout the experience while the other customers did not respond to the convulsing waiter.

With the discussion with the other inn customers concluded, I woke up.

I would appreciate any views on the significance of this experience.

The only book I worked on recently where I constructed an approach to calling on a spirit is a book I wrote on the water spirit Ekene of the Niger Delta Agbarha community and I had only positive impressions and no dreams when writing the book.

The book I am studying right now is Toyin Falola's Global Yoruba and even though it is very rich in discussing Yoruba spiritualities, its ideas and images are completely benign.

The image is of my puzzled self in the room where I am working.
