चतुर्थश् चतुरम् गच्छन् कुश-द्वीप-गिरेस् तटे

ऊर्ध्वम् वहन्त्यः सरितस् तद् अधस्ताद्*धुतो-ऽशनः

Urdhvam vahantya: sarita:_tat_adhastAt*huta:.azana: |

चिति चेत् स्वप्नवद् भाति तत् तथा तत्.स्थितम् भवेत् ॥७।१२६७॥

अथ तेषाम् ददर्श_असौ व्योम्न्य्_एव व्योम-रूपिणाम्

सप्त.द्वीप.अब्धि=वलयम् पुर.पत्तन-भूषणम्

सुर.शैल-शिर:पीठम् ब्रह्मलोक-शिरोमणिम् ॥७।१२६९॥

चन्द्र.अर्क-बिम्ब-नयनम् तारा-मुक्ता-कलापकम्

candra.arka-bimba-nayanam tArA-muktA-kalApakam |

विलोल-मेघ-वसनम् नाना-वन-तनू-रुहम् ॥७।१२६।१०॥

vilola-megha-vasanam nAnA-vana-tanU-ruham ||7|126|10||

देहान् विपश्चिताम् संविन्_ददर्श चतुर्रो ऽपि सा

dehAn vipazcitAm saMvit_dadarza catura:_api sA |

प्राग्वत् कल्प-परावृत्तौ द्यौर् दिगन्तान् इव_आततान् ॥७।१२६।११॥

आतिवाहिक-संवित्तेस् ते ऽव्योम्नि व्योमता.आत्मका:

आधिभौतिक-देहत्व-भावान् ददृशुर् अग्रत: ॥७।१२६।१२॥

Adhibhautika-dehatva-bhAvAn dadRzu:_agrata: ||7|126|12||

अस्य_आत्मकत्वे ऽविद्या_इयम् कियती स्याद् इति_ईक्षितुम्

asya_Atmakatve_avidyA_iyam kiyatI syAt_iti_IkSitum |

चत्वारो ऽपि प्रवृत्तास् ते संस्कार-वशत: पुर: ॥७।१२६।१३॥

तस्माद्_अनुपमम् ज्ञानम् समासाद्य दिग्.अन्तरे

तस्मिन्न्_एव समाधाने सो ऽतिष्ठद् वर्ष-पञ्चकम् ॥७।१२६।१६॥

ततो देहम् परित्यज्य चित्ते सत्ताम् उपागते

उत्तरस् तरल.आस्फाल-कल्लोले सप्तम.अम्बुधौ

सहस्रम् एकम् वर्षाणाम् उवास मकर.उदरे ॥७।१२६।२०॥

sahasram ekam varSANAm uvAsa makara.udare ||7|126|20||

मकर.उदर-मांशासी मृते मकर-नायके

makara.udaramAMzAsI mRte makara-nAyake |

मकर.उदरतो अब्धेश् निर्गतो मकरो यथा ॥७।१२६।२१॥

प्राप्तो दश-सहस्राणि योजनानाम् महामहीम्

prApta:_daza-sahasrANi yojanAnAm mahAmahIm |

सौवर्णी सुर-सम्चार-सरणिम् मृतवान् असौ ॥७।१२६।२३॥

sauvarNI sura-samcAra-saraNim mRtavAn_asau ||7|126|23||

तस्याम् भूमौ मध्ये विपश्चिन् नाकिताम् अगात्

tasyAm bhUmau ca madhye ca vipazcit_nAkitAm agAt |

उत्तमाम् अग्नि-मध्य.स्थम् क्षणात् काष्ठम् इव_अग्निताम् ॥७।१२६।२४॥

uttamAm agni-madhya.stham kSaNAt kASTham iva_agnitAm ||7|126|24||

प्रधान-देवो भूत्वा_असौ लोकालोक-गिरिम् गत:

pradhAna-devo bhUtvA_asau lokAloka-girim gata: |

अस्य भू.मण्डल-तरोर् आलवालम् इव स्थितम् ॥७।१२६।२५॥

asya bhU.maNDala-taror AlavAlam iva sthitam ||7|126|25||

* पञ्चाशत्.सहस्राणि योजनानाम् समुन्नतः

sa* paJcAzat.sahasrANi yojanAnAm sam.unnata: |

आलोकलोक.आचार.आढ्यो भाग* एको ऽस्य _इतरः ॥७।१२६।२६॥

लोकालोक-शिरः प्राप्तम् तारका-मार्ग-संस्थितम्

lokAloka-zira: prAptam tArakA-mArga-saMsthitam |

अदःस्थिता* अपश्यंस्_तम् उच्च-नक्षत्र-शङ्कया ॥७।१२६।२७॥

ada:sthitA* apazyan*_tam ucca-nakSatra-zaGkayA ||7|126|27||

तस्मात् प्रदेशात् तत्.पारे तमस् तस्य महागिरे:

tasmAt pradezAt tat.pAre tama:_tasya mahAgire: |

चतुर्.दिक्कम् महाखातम् नभ: शून्यम् अनन्तकम् ॥७।१२६।२८॥

catur.dikkam mahAkhAtam nabha: zUnyam anantakam ||7|126|28||

ततो भू-गोलको ऽयम् हि समाप्तो वर्तुल.आकृति:

नभ:शून्यम् महाखातम् ततस् तिमिर-पूरितम् ॥७।१२६।२९॥

तत्र_अलि-कज्जल-तमाल-नभो ऽन्तराल=

नीलम् तमो मही जम्गम.आदि

nIlam tama:_na ca mahI na ca jamgama.Adi |

_आलम्बनम् मनाग् अपि वस्तु-जातम्

किम्चित् कदाचिद् अपि सम्भवति_इति विद्धि ॥७।१२६।३०॥

*sv.4 The second was taken away by some celestials (yaksas) who dropped him into blazing fire, and he perished.

*vlm.4. Another of these was smashed in his contest with a Ráksasa, who bore his mangled body aloft in air, and then cast it amidst the marine fire, where it was burnt to ashes.

a=praNAma-kupita-zakra-zApena – not being honored, the angry Indra w a curse = bhasmatAm – to an ashen state.

*sv.5 The third one was taken up to heaven by the celestials known as vidyadhara; there, that Vipascit did not bow to the king (Indra), who cursed him and reduced him to ashes.

*vlm.5. The third was taken up by a Vidyádhara, to the region of the celestials; where he was reduced to ashes by curse of the god Indra, who was offended at the prince's want of respect towards him.

 

चतुर्थश् चतुरम् गच्छन् कुश-द्वीप-गिरेस् तटे

*sv.7 Remaining in their subtle bodies, these four saw their own previous history in their own minds, where they had created subtle impressions.

*vlm.7. In this manner did all these four lose their lives on all sides, and they all fell as sorrowfully as the regents of the four quarters, at the last dissolution of the world on the doomsday.

*sv. In the space of their own consciousness they saw the whole universe with all its oceans and mountains, towns and_cities, the sun and the moon, the stars and the clouds. They even saw their own bodies as before.

*vlm.9. They saw the seven continents with their belts of the seven oceans, and also the_cities and towns with which they were decorated every where.

*sv. In the space of their own consciousness they saw the whole universe with all its oceans and mountains, towns and_cities, the sun and the moon, the stars and the clouds. They even saw their own bodies as before.

 

चन्द्र.अर्क-बिम्ब-नयनम् तारा-मुक्ता-कलापकम्

विलोल-मेघ-वसनम् नाना-वन-तनू-रुहम् ॥७।१२६।१०॥

*vlm.10. They beheld the sky above, with the orbs of the sun and moon forming the pupils of its eyes; and also the clusters of stars, that were hanging as chains of pearls about its neck, and the flaky clouds that formed its folded vest.

*sv. In the space of their own consciousness they saw the whole universe with all its oceans and mountains, towns and_cities, the sun and the moon, the stars and the clouds. They even saw their own bodies as before.

*sv. In the space of their own consciousness they saw the whole universe with all its oceans and mountains, towns and_cities, the sun and the moon, the stars and the clouds. They even saw their own bodies as before.

 

आतिवाहिक-संवित्तेस् ते ऽव्योम्नि व्योमता.आत्मका:

vyomatA.AtmakA: - were of the nature of spaciousness. -

Adhibhautika-dehatva-bhAvAn_dadRzu:_agrata: - they saw their state of material embodiment before them

*vlm.18. The eastern Vipaschit was translated to the region of moon (by his adoration of that luminary), and was seated beside that full bright orb (for his great purity and piety). But the prince, though placed in the exalted sphere of the moon, continued ever afterwards to lament for the loss of his former body. (So heavenly souls are said to long for their bodies).

*sv.24 Because he died in that realm of the gods, this Vipascit became a god, even as a piece of wood lying in the midst of coals of fire instantly becomes fire.

*vlm.24. In this land the prince Vipaschit attained the state of a God head, in the same manner as a piece of wood is turned to fire in a burning furnace.

*vlm.15. Then passing over the seven continents and oceans, the western Vipaschit, happened to meet with the God Hari standing on a parcel of firm land.

*sv.18 The oriental Vipascit remained close to the rays of the moon and contemplated the moon constantly; hence he attained the realm of the moon.

*vlm.18. The eastern Vipaschit was translated to the region of moon (by his adoration of that luminary), and was seated beside that full bright orb (for his great purity and piety). But the prince, though placed in the exalted sphere of the moon, continued ever afterwards to lament for the loss of his former body. (So heavenly souls are said to long for their bodies).

चतुर्थश् चतुरम् गच्छन् कुश.द्वीप.गिरेस् तटे

caturtha:_caturam gacchan kuza.dvIpa.gire:_taTe |

दुर्वरेण नदी.कच्छे मकरेण_अष्टधा कृतः ॥७।१२६६॥

durvareNa nadI.kacche makareNa_aSTadhA kRta: ||7|126|6||

ऊर्ध्वम् वहन्त्यः सरितस् तद् अधस्ताद्*धुतो.ऽशनः

Urdhvam vahantya: sarita:_tat_adhastAt*huta:.azana: |

चिति चेत् स्वप्नवद् भाति तत् तथा तत्.स्थितम् भवेत् ॥७।१२६७॥

citi cet_svapnavat_bhAti tat tathA tat.sthitam bhavet ||7|126|7||

अथ तेषाम् ददर्श_असौ व्योम्न्य्_एव व्योम.रूपिणाम्

atha teSAm dadarza_asau vyomni_eva vyoma.rUpiNAm |

संवित्.प्राक्तन.संस्काराद् व्योम.आत्मा.अवनि.मण्डलम् ॥७।१२६८॥

saMvit.prAktana.saMskArAt_vyoma.AtmA.avani.maNDalam ||7|126|8||

सप्त.द्वीप.अब्धि=वलयम् पुर.पत्तन.भूषणम्

sapta.dvIpa.abdhi=valayam pura.pattana.bhUSaNam |

सुर.शैल.शिर:पीठम् ब्रह्मलोक.शिरोमणिम् ॥७।१२६९॥

sura.zaila.zira:pITham brahmaloka.ziromaNim ||7|126|9||

चन्द्र.अर्क.बिम्ब.नयनम् तारा.मुक्ता.कलापकम्

candra.arka.bimba.nayanam tArA.muktA.kalApakam |

विलोल.मेघ.वसनम् नाना.वन.तनू.रुहम् ॥७।१२६।१०॥

vilola.megha.vasanam nAnA.vana.tanU.ruham ||7|126|10||

देहान् विपश्चिताम् संविन्_ददर्श चतुर्रो ऽपि सा

dehAn vipazcitAm saMvit_dadarza catura:_api sA |

प्राग्वत् कल्प.परावृत्तौ द्यौर् दिगन्तान् इव_आततान् ॥७।१२६।११॥

आतिवाहिक.संवित्तेस् ते ऽव्योम्नि व्योमता.आत्मका:

AtivAhika.saMvitte:_te_avyomni vyomatA.AtmakA: |

आधिभौतिक.देहत्व.भावान् ददृशुर् अग्रत: ॥७।१२६।१२॥

Adhibhautika.dehatva.bhAvAn dadRzu:_agrata: ||7|126|12||

अस्य_आत्मकत्वे ऽविद्या_इयम् कियती स्याद् इति_ईक्षितुम्

asya_Atmakatve_avidyA_iyam kiyatI syAt_iti_IkSitum |

चत्वारो ऽपि प्रवृत्तास् ते संस्कार.वशत: पुर: ॥७।१२६।१३॥

=पाताल.दिवो नद्धम् ऋक्ष.चक्रम् तद् अम्बरे

द्वीप.सप्तकम् उल्लङ्घ्य =महार्णव.सप्तकम्

dvIpa.saptakam ullaGghya sa=mahArNava.saptakam |

विपश्चित्.पश्चिम: प्राप घन.भूमौ जनार्दनम् ॥७।१२६।१५॥

vipazcit.pazcima: prApa ghana.bhUmau janArdanam ||7|126|15||

तस्माद्_अनुपमम् ज्ञानम् समासाद्य दिग्.अन्तरे

tasmAt_an.upamam jJAnam samAsAdya dik.antare |

तस्मिन्न्_एव समाधाने सो ऽतिष्ठद् वर्ष.पञ्चकम् ॥७।१२६।१६॥

tasmin_eva samAdhAne sa:_atiSThat_varSa.paJcakam ||7|126|16||

ततो देहम् परित्यज्य चित्ते सत्ताम् उपागते

tata:_deham parityajya_citte sattAm upAgate |

* तत् प्राण* इव_आकाशम् परम् निर्वाणम् आययौ ॥७।१२६।१७॥

पूर्व: पर्वणि शीत.अम्शु.बिम्ब.पार्श्वे स्थितम् वपु:

चिन्तयंश्_चिरम् उन्नष्ट.देहश् चन्द्र.पुरे स्थित: ॥७।१२६।१८॥

cintayan*_ciram unnaSTa.deha:_candra.pure sthita: ||7|126|18||

दक्षिण: शल्मलि.द्वीपे राज्यम् उत्सन्न.शात्रव:

dakSiNa: zalmali.dvIpe rAjyam utsanna.zAtrava: |

करोत्य्_अद्य_अपि सतो विस्मृत.अन्य.विनिश्चय: ॥७।१२६।१९॥

karoti_adya_api na sata:_vismRta.anya.vinizcaya: ||7|126|19||

उत्तरस् तरल.आस्फाल.कल्लोले सप्तम.अम्बुधौ

uttara:_tarala.AsphAla.kallole saptama.ambudhau |

सहस्रम् एकम् वर्षाणाम् उवास मकर.उदरे ॥७।१२६।२०॥

sahasram ekam varSANAm uvAsa makara.udare ||7|126|20||

मकर.उदर.मांशासी मृते मकर.नायके

makara.udaramAMzAsI mRte makara.nAyake |

मकर.उदरतो अब्धेश् निर्गतो मकरो यथा ॥७।१२६।२१॥

ततो ऽशीति.सहस्राणि योजनानाम् घन.अवनीम्

hima.kalpa.jala.ambhodhe:_ullaGghya sudhana.udarIm ||7|126|22||

प्राप्तो दश.सहस्राणि योजनानाम् महामहीम्

prApta:_daza.sahasrANi yojanAnAm mahAmahIm |

सौवर्णी सुर.सम्चार.सरणिम् मृतवान् असौ ॥७।१२६।२३॥

sauvarNI sura.samcAra.saraNim mRtavAn_asau ||7|126|23||

तस्याम् भूमौ मध्ये विपश्चिन् नाकिताम् अगात्

tasyAm bhUmau ca madhye ca vipazcit_nAkitAm agAt |

उत्तमाम् अग्नि.मध्य.स्थम् क्षणात् काष्ठम् इव_अग्निताम् ॥७।१२६।२४॥

uttamAm agni.madhya.stham kSaNAt kASTham iva_agnitAm ||7|126|24||

प्रधान.देवो भूत्वा_असौ लोकालोक.गिरिम् गत:

pradhAna.devo bhUtvA_asau lokAloka.girim gata: |

अस्य भू.मण्डल.तरोर् आलवालम् इव स्थितम् ॥७।१२६।२५॥

asya bhU.maNDala.taror AlavAlam iva sthitam ||7|126|25||

* पञ्चाशत्.सहस्राणि योजनानाम् समुन्नतः

sa* paJcAzat.sahasrANi yojanAnAm sam.unnata: |

आलोकलोक.आचार.आढ्यो भाग* एको ऽस्य _इतरः ॥७।१२६।२६॥

Alokaloka.AcAra.ADhya:_bhAga* eka:_asya na_itara: ||7|126|26||

लोकालोक.शिरः प्राप्तम् तारका.मार्ग.संस्थितम्

lokAloka.zira: prAptam tArakA.mArga.saMsthitam |

अदःस्थिता* अपश्यंस्_तम् उच्च.नक्षत्र.शङ्कया ॥७।१२६।२७॥

ada:sthitA* apazyan*_tam ucca.nakSatra.zaGkayA ||7|126|27||

तस्मात् प्रदेशात् तत्.पारे तमस् तस्य महागिरे:

tasmAt pradezAt tat.pAre tama:_tasya mahAgire: |

चतुर्.दिक्कम् महाखातम् नभ: शून्यम् अनन्तकम् ॥७।१२६।२८॥

catur.dikkam mahAkhAtam nabha: zUnyam anantakam ||7|126|28||

ततो भू.गोलको ऽयम् हि समाप्तो वर्तुल.आकृति:

tata:_bhU.golaka:_ayam hi samApta:_vartula.AkRti: |

नभ:शून्यम् महाखातम् ततस् तिमिर.पूरितम् ॥७।१२६।२९॥

nabha:zUnyam mahAkhAtam tata:_timira.pUritam ||7|126|29||

तत्र_अलि.कज्जल.तमाल.नभो ऽन्तराल=

tatra_ali.kajjala.tamAla.nabha:_antarAla=

नीलम् तमो मही जम्गम.आदि

nIlam tama:_na ca mahI na ca jamgama.Adi |

_आलम्बनम् मनाग् अपि वस्तु.जातम्

na_Alambanam na ca manAk_api vastu.jAtam .

किम्चित् कदाचिद् अपि सम्भवति_इति विद्धि ॥७।१२६।३०॥

kimcit kadAcit_api sambhavati_iti viddhi ||7|126|30||

santoSaH paramo lAbhaH satsaGgaH paramA gatiH |
vicAraH paramaM jJAnaM zamo hi paramaM sukham ||

सन्तोषः परमो लाभः सत्सङ्गः परमा गतिः।
विचारः परमं ज्ञानं शमो हि परमं सुखम्॥

Enquiry the highest wisdom, and Peace the highest enjoyment.
