jd. Lakshmii is the bride of Vishnu the Preserver of the universe.

Shakti is the bride of Shiva the Destroyer of the universe.

Shakti is Ability = "Power".

Lakshmii is Abundance, wistfully identified with Money,

so that she took the new name Shrii

which means lots of everything.

*vlm.20. I see no felicity in uncivil prosperity, which is full of treachery, and replete with every kind of danger and trouble.

*AS: I see not even a little happiness (kiJcit sukham ) without sorrow (du:khAt Rte), obtained from this petty (abhavyayA) wealth, intent on stealing (apahRta.arthinyA) and immersed (parilInayA) in serious mental anguish (dur+Adhi).
*vlm.p.20 I see no joy in uncivil prosperity, which is full of treachery and replete with every kind of danger and trouble.

चिन्ता.दुहितरः_बह्व्यः_भूरि.दुःललित.एधिताः

चञ्च्लाः प्रभवन्ति_अस्याः_तरङ्गाः सरितः यथा ॥१।१३।३॥

गुण.अगुण.विचारेण विना_एव किल पार्श्वगम्

guNa.aguNa.vicAreNa vinA_eva kila pArzvagam |

राज.प्रकृतिवन् मूढा दुर्.आरूढा_अव.लम्बते ॥१।१३।६॥

कर्मणा तेन.तेन_एषा विस्तारम् अनुगच्छति

karmaNA tena.tena_eSA vistAram anugacchati |

दोष.आशी.विष.वेगस्य यत् क्षीरम् विस्तरायते ॥१।१३।७॥

doSa.AzI.viSa.vegasya yat kSIram vistarAyate ||1|13|7||

तावत्_शीत.मृदु.स्पर्शाः परे स्वे जने जनाः

tAvat_zIta.mRdu.sparzA: pare sve ca jane janA: |

वात्यया_इव हिमम् यावत्_श्रिया परुषी.कृतः ॥१।१३।८॥

vAtyayA_iva himam yAvat_zriyA na paruSI.kRta: ||1|13|8||

प्राज्ञाः शूराः कृत.ज्ञाः_ पेशला* मृदवः_ ये

prAjJA: zUrA: kRta.jJA:_ca pezalA* mRdava:_ca ye |

पांसु.मुष्ट्या_इव मणयः श्रिया* ते मलिनी.कृताः ॥१।१३।९॥

pAMsu.muSTyA_iva maNaya: zriyA* te malinI.kRtA: ||1|13|9||

श्रीः सुखाय भगवन् दुःखाय_एव हि वर्धते

vicAraH paramaM jJAnaM zamo hi paramaM sukham ||

सन्तोषः परमो लाभः सत्सङ्गः परमा गतिः।
विचारः परमं ज्ञानं शमो हि परमं सुखम्॥
Contentment is the highest gain, Good Company the highest course,
Enquiry the highest wisdom, and Peace the highest enjoyment.
