No autocomplete for C standard library functions

I'm trying to get completion to work for functions in the C Standard Library and I don't get any results when I type in std lib function names.

For example, when I type "getc..." I expect to see an option to complete getchar but all I see is:

-- User defined completion (^U^N^P) Pattern not found.

Strangely, though, if I use Ctrl+Space I can see all of the standard library functions in the completion list...

Am I doing something wrong?

I have a similar issue.

Maybe there would be a way to make it so the that YCM tab completion works as it does but Vim's built in Ctrl-P and Ctrl-N will work with stdlib?

I can tell you that no, it is not supposed to handle stdlib. Before asking here I did contact the creator of YCM and he said it was not intended to.

However, if you are interested, you can put the following in your .vimrc

inoremap <Tab> <C-P>    (or C-N)

This will map Tab to Vim's built in autocomplete, and the feature is essentially YCM (tab completion) with stdlib included. It will autocomplete anything found in your preprocesor directives, so be careful-if you have a lot of "#includes" it may take a while to populate the menu and this could cause a little lag.

People, this has been asked and re-asked many times, both here and on the issue tracker. It's also throughly explained in YCM's docs.

YCM uses semantic completion on semantic triggers like "." and "-> for C++. If you want to use semantic completion outside such triggers, use <C-Space> (can be remapped, see docs). The reason semantic completion isn't always-on is because it's too slow when typing fast.
