XPManchester 12th March - "The AI" Goldfish bowl discussion. 6:30pm @ The Briton's Protection

 Hi all, 

I believe this month's venue, upstairs in the Briton's Protection[1], will suit more a discussion/debate evening than a presentation or laptop practical. As such, I am finally giving in and having "the AI" group rant^H^H^H^H grown up and mature discussion.

Whilst I agree the topic bloody everywhere right now, and have so far put off having it as a session topic, I think having an XP-focused discussion about the elephant in the room is inevitable, so we may as well get it done whilst we're in a pub.

Format

Goldfish bowl discussion with a moderator.
Questions raised from the audience to the moderator via real time web submission

Bowl discusses or debates the topic asked by the moderator 

Guard rails

Moderator/Facilitator job is to keep discussion on topic.

Moderator will not be offering their own views or taking part in the current discussion

Discussion points and/or questions will originate outside of the bowl.

Out of Scope

That LLMs have been trained on copyrighted and stolen data, use vast amount of resources and are controlled by people who have demonstrated time and time again cannot be trusted with the best interests of a puppy, let alone the planet,  is evident and obvious.

The ethics of AI, although exceedingly important, is out of scope for this evening. If there is sufficient demand for it we can perhaps visit it on an entirely separate occasion.

We don't need a guest list for this event, but I will send out a nudge via eventbrite anyway for the naughty folk not subscribed to this list *shakes fist*
