Hi X-Cats,
A week ago, today we had a meeting that had nothing to do with robotics. Going into the roundtable and listening session on the fight for equality, we had no idea if hosting such a meeting was the “right thing” to do. By the end of the meeting, we were 100% sure that this meeting was not only wanted, but was desperately needed. It’s too easy to sit back and do nothing. I am proud of our team for taking a stand.
There were so many stories that were shared, along with people who were able to simply say what was on their minds, and people who were attentively listening. On the call, there was a mix of emotions ranging from anger, frustration, hope, and grief. Two hours was obviously not long enough. We never had a chance to offer suggestions on what we can do as X-Cats or individuals, for our team, our school, FIRST, and our community.
I would like for you to take yourself back to that day, recall the emotion, and fill out the attached survey. If you were not on the call, I would encourage you to stare at the images below for a few seconds and fil out the survey that our senior Sheyranna set up for us. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BG7QQR3
The Leadership Team will take the results from the survey, publish them, and hopefully come up with some tangible items that we can do to bring about change.
Thank you to our many alumni spanning decades, former mentors, and current X-Cats that logged in for the meeting, and thank you to Jan and the Leadership Team for pulling this together. We have received a lot of positive feedback.
Talk to you soon. Don’t forget to fill out the survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BG7QQR3
