Hi everyone! 👋🏼This is Sonia Putzel, Roger's daughter. My dad and I are putting together a  website/blog that will be a hub for CAO resources and a place where people can share their CAO experiences and research. I'm putting together two sections:
1. Programs where CAO is currently being implemented. Each implementation will be on a master list and also have a separate page with text, photos, or whatever media folks want to include.
2. Articles, books and research about CAO. Each publication will have a short description or a whole page devoted to it.

We're hoping to make this into a comprehensive resource for teachers that can give some idea of all the flavors of CAO and all the teaching materials that are out there. It would be amazing to document all your programs and experiences so that newcomers to CAO will have a sense of what's happening and who to reach out to in the community.

If you'd like to be included, please send me your article or blog post with title, relevant images and media, or if you'd prefer to post it yourself let me know and I can give you access to the website.

Thanks and so excited to meet you all!

Sonia

Hi Sonia,
Great to see this -and to meet you virtually.
I’m happy to share stuff
With colleagues I’ve published a few articles about use of XB in different contexts - some are available elsewhere so I can include links to them.
What is the timing for launch?
It all take a little while to pull things together.
I think this is a terrific idea, and will look forward to reading thins as they come in.
Regards
EL

Hi Sonia, welcome to our group. The blog/website is exciting!!!  I'll work on a blog post about my XBLO course.

There's also a google drive with a folders of articles. Not sure if the published ones have copyrights allowing reposting publicly, but we could find the DOI links for each to put with a summary of it. Maybe the authors (if in this group) could create summaries for their own work, and we can crowdsource comments regarding the other pubs.

Best,

Laurie

Hi Elyssebeth,
The timing is flexible. You can add items post-launch if that's easier for you, or just start with a list now and add to it later. Probably we'll want to launch in about two weeks, as soon as I've put together the basic structure and some posts my dad is writing.

Anything you can send me would be wonderful! Pics and other media are especially welcome so we can make the articles and blog posts look nice.

Hi Laurie, thanks for the tip about the folder and thank you (in advance) for the blog post! Crowdsourcing comments where we're not in contact with the authors sounds like a great idea. I'll ask my dad to comb through the folder and maybe we can put together some kind of spreadsheet that allows folks to claim an article to add comments on.

Looking forward to seeing your post,
Sonia

Hi Sonia,

Thanks for doing this! Presently I’ve implemented CAO for Organizational Behavior in the undergrad and Doctor of Business Administration courses at George Fox University.

Here are some publications that Stacie and I have done on CAO:

  • Thomas, D., Chappel, S. and Bright, D. (in publication, release Aug. 2020). Teaching Methods in Business Series: Classroom as Organization. Eduard Edgar Publishing.
  • Chappell, S. & Thomas, D. (2020). Classroom As Organization: A Review of the Literature. Academy of Management Annual Meeting Proceedings, August, 2020.
  • Chappell, S. & Thomas, D. (2019). The shadow side of teaching Classroom as Organization (CAO). Journal of Management Education43(4), 461 – 470.

What we are working on:

  • CAO lit review to be published in a journal
  • Article on CAO online with Ray L., Stacie and I

The book is designed to be an introduction to CAO and a template for how to start a CAO classroom. It’s on preorder at Amazon coming out any day now. https://www.amazon.com/Classroom-Organization-Teaching-Methods-Business-dp-1788979869/dp/1788979869/ref=mt_other?_encoding=UTF8&me=&qid=1597184229

The book is dedicated to your dad.

I hope this gets you started, it’s a busy time of year here as we are getting our classes up and going for the semester. Let me know if you need anything else.

Thank you so much, Debby! I'll place these under a heading for George Fox University Business Department, does that work?
And if you're interested in doing a blog post about implementing CAO during Covid19, that would be really interesting to include (no rush, obviously)!

Thank you Matthew! Is there a specific program this was made for? I'd like to provide some context for site visitors.

Debby, is there an image you would like me to add to the George Fox University item? If not I can just grab the logo from the website. Thanks!

Sorry to send two emails - also was wondering if there's a page on the Fox University site or elsewhere with more information about the CAO program?
