I am excited to announce that a new MDXC (Mediterraneo DX Club) DXpedition is coming. This year we are heading to western Africa, to Bioko Island in Equatorial Guinea as 3C2MD. Check out this short promotional video at https://youtu.be/gYbik_-DcLM and share it with your club.

The 16 skilled operators of the expeditionary team, (I8KHC, IZ2GNQ, F6IRA, OK2WX, AG4W, DL8JJ, IU3PMA, DL6KVA, GI4DOH, YO8PS , IU2EFB, KB2FMH, DL6LZM, IU4HRJ, HB9DHG and IZ4UEZ) are thrilled about the great results of MDXC’s previous efforts, and now are eager to bring back Equatorial Guinea on the radio waves: starting from 29 October until the 10 November 2025, on the Atlantic Ocean shores with a straight line to the USA with no obstructions. Seven stations will be on the air on CW, SSB, RTTY and FT8, 160 through 6m with special focus on the low bands, WARC, SSB, #42 most wanted and CW,#65 most wanted. On top of that, after the great experience during TJ9MD, J28MD, and XT2MD for the Moon Bounce enthusiasts, an E.M.E. station will offer a chance to increase their 2m DXCC with this New One. We will also have a QO-100 satellite station. This DXpedition has the same leadership and most of the same operators that made over 100,000 QSOs from TJ9MD and 90,000 from J28MD when I was last part of the team.

While the team starts to pack their luggage, you should start to plan to raise your antennas and warm-up the rigs… Stay tuned for more news!

 

Support is welcome due to the high costs of customs, licenses, equipment and material transportation. I would like to see WVDXA support our team again. I really appreciated the donation you made when I went with the team to TJ9MD. If you can't make a large donation, please consider a small one.

Back in May I forwarded this support request for 3C2MD and the sentiment was there to provide support.  However, I decided to wait until 3Y0K collection was done before soliciting donations. 

Since 3Y0K declined our support offer, one option is to just send 3C2MD the money we have already collected.  This is $780 not counting the extra $200 I was going to kick in trying to get our logo displayed.  Selfish motive: this would save work for me refunding the 3Y0K donations and would avoid another collection effort. 

Give this some thought.  If most are in agreement this is what we will do.  I would refund the 3Y0K donation of anyone who would prefer not to donate to 3C2MD.  Donors please advise your preference. 

We have supported this group before and they do a great job.  

Ironically James KB2FMH is a member of the 3C2MD team.  I agree with Hal the fiasco with 3Y0K was not the fault of James KB2FMH, or even Adrian KO8SCA.  I have given this situation much thought.  There is no benefit to getting into a pissing contest over this. Best to just let it die.   It is their DXpedition and they can run fundraising as they wish. If (when) we work 3Y0K, just send them an OQRS.  The cost is $15.    

Not only will 3Y0K lose our upfront $1,000, they will also lose the $1,000 NCDXF matching pledge our contribution would have generated.   

By the way, nothing has been heard from the 3Y0K leadership.  I don't expect any feedback and, frankly, am not interested in their rationale at this point. 

Per available records, we have supported 50 expeditions amounting to approximately $31000.

I am ok with moving the donation to the 3C operation.  I am sure that THEY will appreciate it.  Like you said, no sense arguing with the Bouvet people and getting int a pissing contests with them.  All that would happen is that we would get wet.  No one needs this.
