Good haiku, Curt. I remember days like that in the valley in the spring. So intense, the darkening but then the light would always reappear. Another haiku?

Hi Curt,

This is perfectly fine as it is. I like the contrast between having an untidy yard and a robin building a nest--things coming apart, things coming together.

If you wanted it to be in a more traditional form, you could add spring to the first line and exchange line two with line three.

The first spring robin
glad for my untidy yard
collects things for its nest

Or not. It's your choice.

Hi Curt . . . and Everyone:

Your haikus are really good, and I enjoy reading them. But would you please gather them together and send them out together? For our writing group, at least. I suspect you send them out as a daily exercise to your Haiku group, so it makes sense to send them one by one to them.

But I get so many emails from our group every day--originals, critiques, revisions, research articles, and more revisions--that I lose track of what is meant for the week we're in. Maybe we could all--myself included--be a little stricter with ourselves and date our work for the Thursday we plan to read it? I know that sometimes we can't read it on that date, but having a date would clarify much in the way of the hundreds of emails I now receive every month.

Thank you!

I love this Haiku. It brings memories of  a game we played in my neighborhood in Madrid.
I could not help myself. Here it is:

So easy when we are eight,
not so at eighty.

Nice!
Bombay Sapphire?
Sounds good.

As to the mechanics (those pesky details!) please consider a period after tonic. Then a capital C for Calm. Unless you wanted "iced gin and tonic" to be an adjective phrase describing "calm." Your choice.
