Merging BoardEX with Compustat

Hello everyone,

I have big trouble merging BoardEx data set to Compustat as one has ISIN the other Cusip. I've tried a code converting Isin into Cusip, however, this does not seem to work. Also, there is no other unique variable.

I would really appreciate some help.

Hi,

We can convert gvkey to isin/cik/ticker easily using identifiers convert in capitaliq. Applying this way, we can get both current and previous isin for more than 28,000 firms in the US.

For the rest, fuzzy name matching can be employed since firm name in boardex is quite consistent with compustat(after cleaning)

Hope you can get boardid for all firms in your sample.
