Love this idea! I would definitely raise my hand to help represent what is happening in our state on the healthcare front. Healthy Climate Wisconsin, formerly Wisconsin Health Professionals for Climate Action, have some pretty lofty goals for 2023/2024! We are also planning some very fun ways to achieve those goals!

I also really like this idea. I would be open to speaking, or organizing forest therapy walks (feelings of being in relationship with nature is a higher indicator of sustainable action than having knowledge of sustainability) 😉

Hi everyone! I'd be happy to speak at the event and I would love to offer my services for something like this. I lead design thinking, innovation and leadership workshops with a focus on life-centered design. I'm also reading up on biomimicry and belonging, and hoping to add those topics to my toolbox of offerings. I'm happy to chat more with organizers if this sounds like something of interest to the group.

If any of you want to meet me, I will be one of the people guiding a forest bathing walk on Sept 8 with the USGBC Women In Green event (I’m listed as Rooted In Nature) 😊
This is from the Women In Sustainability email I got this morning from Korinne Haeffel:
It’s hard to believe that U.S. Green Building Council’s Women in Green retreat is just a couple weeks away. I wanted to take a moment to highlight it again to this group in hopes that you can join us as we convene at the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center Friday, September 8th from 9-1pm where self-care and personal growth will take center stage. I hope to see you there!
Women in Green: Self-Titled
Experience the transformative power of self-care, personal narratives, and the healing connections with nature. We last convened in March celebrating International Women's Day with a much needed conversation about the importance of being an ally, but how can one be an ally to others when they don't often take the time to be an ally to themselves? Join USGBC's Women in Green participants as we empower women across professions, celebrating achievements and defining our own narratives. Together, we'll redefine our stories, while embracing the power of mindfulness and nature for self-renewal. Learn how to refresh yourself and unleash your potential in a supportive community where your words matter. Self-titled: Your words. Your story. The mic is open.
Immerse Yourself in a Day of Renewal, Connection, and Empowerment:
Join us on September 8, 2023, for a revitalizing Women in Green retreat, where self-care and personal growth take center stage. The day will begin with a mindful moment, setting the tone for a day of empowerment.
We'll then explore the concept of self-compassion in "Inner Ally vs. Inner Adversary: Nurturing Ourselves" presented by Growing Minds. Discover how treating yourself kindly, even amid life's challenges, can lead to resilience and growth. Learn techniques to replace self-criticism with self-support, enhancing mental well-being and relationships. Embrace your inner strength.
Engage in meaningful discussions about personal narratives during lunch, sharing your journey and aspirations. Foster connections and inspiration as you connect with fellow attendees.
Reconnect with nature through the "Forest Therapy Walk" presented by certified forest therapy guides from Rooted In Nature and Forest Therapy with Allison. Experience the proven benefits of nature immersion, from reduced stress to enhanced immune response. Relish the tranquility of the outdoors, allowing mindfulness to enrich your senses and your connection with the world around you.
Rediscover your essence through the power of self-compassion and the serenity of nature. Join us for a morning that nourishes your spirit and empowers your path.

A hike gathering sounds fantastic. Keep me posted!
Thanks 😊
I live in the Northern Kettle Moraine area. I am guessing most of you live in MKE area. If you are interested in going for a friendly social hike sometime, please reach out to me separately and let me know where you live and how far you are willing to drive. I am thinking Northern Kettle Moraine area or Lion’s Den Gorge on a Saturday morning. I won’t be able to attend the Sept 8th retreat day so will organize a hike instead for anyone who wants to join. Saturday or Sunday mornings work best in my world so let me know if either of those days typically work better for you. I am sure it will be hard to find a time for everyone so even if a few of us can join up here and there it would be a fun way to get to know one another better.
😊
Kelly
