Currently, Japan is enduring an increasing wave of Covid
numbers. A few days ago I watched NHK World, which they
market as an international news program, and it was
filled with stories about the climbing numbers.

And... they made Big Points over how these illnesses
were dramatically higher in areas adjacent to the
Occupation Troop Bases in Okinawa and some others.

(The "Occupation Troop" phrase was silent, but pretty clear).

The Japanese are just this side of having their
"self defense forces" napalm out the US bases to
get rid of Covid:

So now... this has become a big enough issue that
the more mainstream international English language media has
picked up on it:

That really explains the current drop in the broader-based TOPIX, which in this session is at 1.995.68, down 1.33 points or 0.67 percent.
