"American Experience" on PBS on the race to the moon in the 1960s includes some clips of Jules Bergman.

I finally finished this (with the help of PBS On Demand).  I was hoping they'd
get to the bottom of the "How close was Jules Bergman, really, to being an
astronaut?" question.  Does anyone know the answer?  If, say, an astronaut was somehow unable to fly, could Jules have subbed?

[Jewish Telegraphic Agency]

Fellow journalist George Alexander also didn't mince words.

"There were several prima donnas in broadcasting, Jules Bergman being the
preeminent example," Alexander said in the documentary. "Jules wanted you
to know that he could have been an astronaut."
