Funny you should mention Canadian anchors.
It’s the anniversary of Princess Diana’s death. If you recall, Kevin Newman handled ABC’s live coverage through the evening, and impressed ABC brass sufficiently to make him newsreader on GMA (replacing Elizabeth Vargas) and then co-anchor of GMA with Lisa McCree in May 1998. That lasted seven months. Morning people didn’t get his droll Canadian affect and humor.
Newman became a correspondent for Nightline and a substitute anchor for World News Tonight until he headed back to Canada in 2001 to become anchor and executive editor for Global Television’s news show.
He quit that in 2010.
