Hi Julia,
The Import process begins at midnight and first checks for all metadata.
Any errors generate an error report.
What passes is converted to a .wav music file.
Around 1pm the .wav music files are imported to Rivendell.
Two reports, lossy (MP3) and lossless (cd to FLAC), list details of the imports.
Only music files as .flac or .mp3 are processed.
They must contain the following metadata: Artist, Title, Album, Track, Year, and Genre.
Also the bitrate (quality) for MP3s must be at least 256 kbs.
If metadata is missing or bitrate is too low, an error file is emailed to the google group wmfo-music.
Prior to 2019 no error report existed.
On the music office pc, the cd ripping program does allow for adding any missing metadata before the cd is ripped.
Ripped CD music is converted to a .flac
Mp3's (and Flacs) can be copied via links on the desktop and can be corrected using mp3tag. A shortcut sits on the desktop.
Rejected files are moved to a rejected directory. Which should be accessible from the music office PC.
Except for low bitrate mp3s, those files can be corrected and moved back for processing for the following evening.
