Just a note, they both work. Occasionally, CD-R gets wonky. A quick blow from an air duster straightens it out.

This seems like ops-list material, not sub-list.

I did some troubleshooting as well. It will occasionally play through both channels. The headphone jack only plays through one channel as well. Both issues may well be with the mixer.

Has anyone used the turntables yet? The last time I got to use them the turntable on the left was only producing sound on one channel. I haven’t mentioned it since studio A was closed off soon after. I remember quickly checking the cables but didn’t really get to do a better trouble shooting.

Todd

Following up on the DJ Mixer Situation in Studio A, when the "shark likes chai" crew came in  on Friday at 10 PM after me, Emma wanted to use the turntables on the DJ Mixer, so we tried to get a signal going out from that to the new Main Board. However Emma discovered that the cartridge weights on both turntables needed to be adjusted, i.e. the stylus were "floating" above the spinning vinyl and not Descending Into The Grooves...

Yes, whenever I plan to spin mostly vinyl, I enter the studio around :50 to check the balance. Who changes it? I wish I knew! (I assume someone is using their own cartridges but doesn’t rebalance afterwards…)

Were you able to get the tone arm balanced? If you don’t know how, I’d be happy to put together a tutorial / demo.

Re: the rest of the sitch with the DJ mixer. I asked Mariah to check on them during her show Tuesday and she reported no issues.

All the best, and good on you for spinning vinyl! 🤘🏼

Sometimes the the cueing lever is left in the up position and the host will lock it which will put the tonearm out of balance. Generally speaking, for most of the crap vinyl I bring in from my collection 2g force works just fine in a pinch to save time.

The problem I’ve seen is when someone changes the zero point on the dial so the 2g mark doesn’t equal 2g of force. Then you have to balance, rezero, etc. Iirc 2.25g is the recommendation for the carts we have but I could be wrong.
