Wemo association stopped working

My Wemo Insight plug's connection stopped working on Dec 10.  I've tried completely removing the Wemo service connection on IFTTT and starting the association from scratch.  It acts like it's working (other than the weirdness of making me answer the "Which insight switch" question twice and the "Which switch" question 4 times) but the plug just won't show up in my WirelessTag account.

Does anyone have a workaround for this?

Thanks!

What is your account email? no account was found under "moe...@gmail.com
The "which insight switch" question from IFTTT is repeated for trigger and action, it is weird but it is designed by IFTTT that way there is nothing we can do.

That’s the same day that my Wemo Smart Plug stopped working. (See the other thread named “outage?”.)
I don’t think anybody is looking into the problem, but it looks to be a problem with the WirelessTag to Wemo/IFTTT connection. Maybe Wemo changed their interface in an incompatible way.

This has not been working for a while.  I disassociated my WEMO plug because it was not working, and now I cannot even get it to associate (IFTTT asks for fingerprint authentication -- I give it and I am back at the Tag app.  How about some attention from support!  Brilliant engineering but it fails on the details of doing something useful with the data!

Can you get your Wemo plugs to work with IFTTT using regular applets?

That’s a good question. I’m curious what others find, but here’s what I see…

I don’t have IFTTT and Wemo connected for anything but WirelessTag, so I set up an applet that is supposed to send me an IFTTT app notification when the Wemo is switched on. It has not triggered, though it should have. In the IFTTT app, it says the applet has never run. I can tell that the Wemo has turned on and off twice since starting the applet.
I have verified that I see other IFTTT app notifications.
Having said that, this is a new applet, so I suppose I could be doing something wrong.

Yeah, it all works fine in IFTTT.  And the association process from both the app and my.wirelesstag.net act like they're working...the plug just won't show up after completion.

My problem is that since un-associating a wemo plug, I have not been able to get it back.  On Android, when I press "Connect Wemo", I get a "Verify" screen that wants a fingerprint.  I give it fingerprint and then it goes back to the Tags App.  This, needless to say, is very frustrating.  And it occurs whether or not the Wemo and/or the IFTTT app is simultaneously running.

I had the thing connected and running before, but I suddenly started getting an authorization error:

Jurassic.JavaScriptException: Error: The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized. ---> System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized. at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse() at MyTagList.IFTTT.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

I'm still unable to associate my Wemo Insight Switch and have it show in my device list or use it in my Kumo app.  Are others continuing to have issues?  Any word on resolution?

No change for me. It hasn’t worked since December 10. I try to reassociate my switch every few days, to no avail.
With three players involved (WirelessTag, IFTTT, Wemo), nobody owns it and nobody wants to take responsibility, so it goes unfixed.
I stopped depending on it.

This might be more widespread than just the Wemo switch integration and more endemic to Wireless Tag's IFTTT integration.  I have other, simple applets in IFTTT that rely on a trigger from my PIR sensor's humidity thresholds and they haven't been firing for a few weeks (humidity levels were in normal range for a while so I don't know when it would have stopped working).  I even tried reconnecting the service and it acts like it's connected but they still won't fire.

During earlier troubleshooting of the Wemo integration, I tried removing the Wemo service, renaming the switch in the Wemo app, and reconfiguring - all steps of which succeeded but it never showed back up in my list of Wireless Tag devices.   I decided to completely remove the Wireless Tag and Wemo services from my IFTTT account and came across a couple interesting observations in that process:
  • Before removing the Wireless Tag Wemo Insight switch integration applet, I looked at the settings and noticed my Wemo switch was actually showing in the configuration with the new name (I thought it had been missing before).
  • After removing the Wireless Tag service from IFTTT, I noticed my Wemo switch showed up in the list of recently deleted tags (Settings->Undelete a Tag) under its OLD name.
I think I'm going to wait a day in case any of these systems have a nightly clean-up job and try setting up the Wireless Tag, Wemo and IFTTT integrations from scratch.  Fingers crossed...

Update: Completely removing my Wireless Tag registration on IFTTT and re-registering the next day fixed my regular IFTTT applets but my Wemo Insight switch still fails to show up after successfully running through the steps to associate it (even though every step appears to succeed).

We are working with IFTTT Platform support to resolve this issue, it seems to be caused by outage of IFTTT Connect (v2) API.  The API always return invalid user_id even if valid user_id is provided.

This problem seems to be caused by IFTTT silently changing their API to ignore the old header IFTTT-Channel-Key  and only read IFTTT-Service-Key   (Recipe/Channel was unique and much better terminology than Applet/Service which is too general IMHO)
There was no error message indicating bad header, just invalid user_id.
Now it is fixed and everything should be working.

Thanks for the update!  Unfortunately, it's still behaving as described earlier (even after completely removing both Wireless Tag and Wemo services from IFTTT)...it acts like association succeeds but the Wemo switch doesn't show up in my Wireless Tags device list.

Same here. I tried disconnecting the WirelessTag/Wemo applet and reassociating it.  It reports success, but the Wemo switch I configured doesn't show up in WirelessTag.
I'm curious why there is sudden progress on this issue.  Did IFTTT really take three months to respond to you to help debug this?

Please try from the web/android interface, click Settings->Account-> scroll to the bottom of the page then click the buttons under "Manage IFTTT Connections" choose "Manually Sync Settings"
I am not sure when this problem first started, but I was made aware of this issue by a phone call from a customer who talked about this problem happening since a few days ago.

That did not fix it for me. Do I need to remove all of the IFTTT/Wemo/WirelessTag applets and reconnect from scratch?
Also, I'm a lot disappointed that we've been discussing this issue here since early December and that wasn't enough to get WirelessTag to look into the issue.

I disconnected IFTTT and WirelessTag and reconnected them, including revoking and granting access between IFTTT and WirelessTag. Now when I click "Manually sync settings", I get the error banner:
Part or all of this connection seems to have been turned off by you at IFTTT, 2 tag(s) are removed from your tag list. They will reappear if you re-enable the Connection.

I'm not sure what else I need to reset.  In IFTTT, I see the WirelessTag Smart Plug Integration applet, and it appears to be connected and configured.

I clicked around in IFTTT turning on and off the second switch (I only have one), just to see if it made any difference. I didn't save any of this, but when I go back to WirelessTag, my Wemo Switch now shows up.
I tried "Manually sync settings", and I still get the error message, but it appears to be working.
