Hi wind-enthusiastic-people,
I´m looking for a topic of my thesis for my bachelors degree in renewable energies.
Due to my onlineresearch in the area of windenergy I found the "A Wind Turbine Recipe Book" by Hugh Piggott and
I would like to contribute with my thesis to this project. I saw that there are already quite a lot of studies conducted.
My idea was to studie the furling of the windturbine.
It´s very important for the energy-yield that the windturbine uses all the available wind in
higher windspeeds. Of course just untill a certain barrier, so it doesn´t get damaged or destroyed.
So for a optimal energy-yield it is important to optimize the point when the windturbine starts to furl.
This investigation would help to get a better knowledge/understanding which parameters influence the furling, and with what degree they do it.
My idea was to investigate the following parameters:
tail-length, tail-weight, tail-angle, size of the board of the tail, windspeed,........ to be continued(-:
It´s still a very superficial idea but I already would like to share it with you to get some feedback.
I´m greatful for every comment, feedback or advice.
Thanks a lot and
windy regards
