Legacy URL Patterns and Redirects

As we migrate  away from the Mediawiki platform, we should take stock of the URL patterns that we have shared and supported over the years. We should do our best to continue to support these patterns via redirects, deprecation schedules and communication.

I’ve started a list here, please add to it:

Note that these will not just automatically work when we make the switch to the new site. One reason is PHP is not supported on GitHub Pages, so we might need a redirection server to handle some of the tricker ones. Ideally, we can handle most by Page Rules (in Cloudflare). Please add you redirection strategy ideas as well.

Hi all,

Found a neat trick! We can create as many subdomains as we want (for free) using a combination o f cloud flare CNAME records and GitHub’s CNAME management per user/org account. See example and details here:

This same strategy will work to redirect community sites (formerly Portals), as well as for actual GitHub Pages websites we are hosting from the wikipathways org.
