Does anyone teach a course or a significantly lengthy unit in a course focused on AI? What curriculum have you found that is at least decent? What resources have you used as a curriculum or to augment a curriculum that you’ve found?

Thanks for your time.

I have been using Common Sense Media and their unit on AI. I have expanded on their materials to turn it into a lengthy course. Took me a couple of days. Definitely worth the time to alter to student needs.

We've used CodeHS's "Introduction to AI for High School" and generally like it. Most of the activities are designed to be at a self-guided independent pace, so we adapted them to be taught by a live teacher in a group setting instead and have a lot more interactive and discussion activities.

I used Project STEM's AI in our World curriculum for a 6 week middle school curriculum. It worked quite well, though I tweaked it a bit and added in a little exploration of tools from Magic School.

We've got a Theory of AI class that focuses on the impact side of things, no programming. We focus on Impact, Ethics, and Legality with the following topics:
Deepfakes, Generative AI, Recommender Systems, Impact on Government, Impact on Recreation, and Impact on Jobs.

We use lots of resources, some of the hits in class are the moral machine, and clips from Black Mirror, Social Dilemma, and Madam Secretary.

I have used parts of a code.org unit called Exploring Generative AI.   It walks students through the process of creating a chatbot.     I am also piloting a unit for Code.org called Problem Solving with AI.  It will be released in the fall.  So far my students are liking it.

We use code.org AI in our classroom and they just developed an entire new curriculum for AI that is available next year. We are running 5-day summer workshops on it this summer in fact and I am currently in code.org spring training to be a facilitator for it. Let me know if anybody has any questions about the curriculum or needs more information.

Hello there. I put out some emails to find out when Wisconsin is holding their own version of this since the one I am currently scheduled for is in Michigan and they said they are currently in the scheduling process and are getting back to me when they finalize. I will write back more when I find out more. And thank you for your interest!
