Dan,
Thanks for doing awesome things!
Where can I find the handouts with QR codes?
I most definitely would entertain a "college lecturer guest speaker would be a useful addition to your end of the year lineup." I have said many times that the young man from UW Platteville that visited my Bloomington High School math classroom in 1984 (my senior year) is what planted the seed for me to add a computer science minor to my math major for secondary education. I signed up for a CS minor not really knowing what CS was. My junior year, my math teacher got a Tandy Radio Shack TRS-80 in the classroom with a cassette recorder for data. That was my introduction to computers. I was blessed to have those CS opportunities in high school.

Greeting Brave CS Teachers,
UW-Platteville is once again hosting summer workshops that give high school
students a preview of the full college experience. This year's workshops
run June 22nd–24th, with two registration options: commuter at $100 and
residential at $250, scholarships available. The workshop is targeted for
current 8th graders and high school students. We have made minor
exceptions for exceptional students.
We're offering two tracks running concurrently, all led by instructors from
our Computer Science and Software Engineering Department:
- Game Programming with VR
- Cybersecurity
More details are on our website. I've attached handouts with QR codes that
you're welcome to pass along to students you think would be a good fit.

I'm considering putting together a guest speaker tour of Wisconsin high
school classrooms, talking about CS at the college level and sharing info
about our UW-Platteville summer workshops. Before finalizing dates and
creating a sign-up sheet, I'd love to know if a college lecturer guest
speaker would be a useful addition to your end of the year lineup.
Reply here or shoot me a note, and if there's enough interest I'll send out
scheduling details next week.
Thanks,
Dan Rhode
