Hope you are doing well!

We would like to invite you to a Focus Group Discussion being organized by UNRCO, UN-Habitat and NIUA on Friday, 26th November, 2021 from 12:00 pm to 1:30 am.

The aim of the FGD is to engage persons with disabilities and sector experts for a conversation on identifying accessibility and inclusion challenges faced by persons with disabilities at the city-level. The discussion would be helpful in sourcing problem statements for the envisaged 'Smart Solutions Challenge' that would seek innovative technological solutions to make public spaces inclusive, accessible and sustainable for all (see Concept Note attached).

UNRCO, UN-Habitat and NIUA aim to promote "participatory decision-making" through the lived experiences of persons with disabilities and sector expertise for identifying areas for intervention for promoting new ideas and solutions for taking practical action for future steps to realize an inclusive, accessible and sustainable public spaces for all persons with disabilities.

In case, you would like to extend the invitation to fellow sector experts or colleagues, please do let us know in advance. Also, participants may liaison with their peers and constituents to provide input and feedback during or post the FGD. The FDG will be held in English and Hindi.

We would be grateful if you could please block your calendar and send us a line of confirmation on your participation at your earliest convenience.

What are some of the most pressing accessibility and inclusion challenges faced by persons with disabilities at the city-level?
How should we interpret the use of technologies for inclusive development processes? - is the technology being used to make cities smart also making them inclusive? or is it widening the digital divide and excluding certain communities?
