Submission to UN on Political Rights of PwDs

Dear Members, 

The Politics and Disability Forum Team made a submission to the United Nations Commission for Human Rights (UHCHR) Article 29 of the UNCRPD, which deals with the Right to political and public life. The submission is now published on their website here. 

The submission, restricted by page limit, focuses on data and barriers. First, the data covers both the voters' and candidates' aspects. Second, the barriers focus on legislative, institutional, and attitudinal barriers. Our focus was to emphasise as much Indian context as possible to underline the importance of political participation in the largest democracy that also has the largest PwD population as a political constituent.
